The Ridgid Cut-Off Machine features a 15 amp high-torque motor as well as heavy duty construction with hardened, cut-steel gears that enable it to cut easily through rebar, bar stock or complete bundles of metal studs. A durable cast-aluminum motor housing and a wide, cast-iron base with non-slip rubber feet give this tool strength and stability. The machine comes with a convenient carrying handle, a hold down chain to stabilize the head in transport, an arbour lock and on-board wrench storage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Ridgid 14 inch cut off msaw works great! I really, really like my new Ridgid 14 in. cut off saw! I build/rebuild classic cars and fabricate metal pieces all of the time, and cut many different angles, shapes of metal pieces and this saw is ACCURATE and cuts with ease.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Adjustments are difficult This saw is powerful enough to cut metal without bogging down too much. I find the cutting fence angle adjustment to be a nuisance because of the small spring loaded handle and indents. Each angle adjustment requires you to lift the handle to disengage the detents, turn it a small amount, release the handle whereupon the spring forces it to re-seat in a detent, and then repeat the process. This may be a safety feature but a pentagon knob or a 4 arm bar knob would be much more useful. Changing the fence location is also time consuming as there are only two locations (threaded holes) for the fence retaining bolt to go into. The retaining bolt is very close to the back of the fence forcing you to make multiple turns with the dinky flat wrench to extract the bolt and re-install it. The saw itself is acceptable but the difficulty in making layout changes will cause me to take a good look at other saws when it comes time to buy another.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Design The saw itself cuts as expected, but don't use it for any kind of serious work. The thin metal base will warp and twist on you when exposed to prolonged spark and heat from cutting heavy material. Seek out a design with a cast iron base, you'll thank yourself. I had originally bought one with a thin metal base and then found a display model with a cast iron base. Though Home Depot was willing to give me a discount on the display model, I am now the proud owner of 2 chop saws. I guess it's good to have one for parts when the other breaks down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great chop saw but ... Great and well build saw for ferrous metals only. You need to get an additional non-ferrous metal cutting blade for cutting aluminum, brass, copper and plastics. The big issue is with factory set angle bracket from 0-45 deg. either direction left or right. This bracket as set by the manufacturer won’t allow full range of movement up to 45 deg. It stops around 33 deg. because friction beyond this point. I have quickly learned that the adjustment you have to made is related to locking handle and a specially a split lock washer which needs to be adjusted. To fix this problem remove the small screw with spring and loosen the screw going to a T-nut underneath of the casting base. Now this bracket will travel all the way and pass 45 deg. Set to a position so split lock washer will hold the bracket with some force but when adding the L-handle will lock in position. You may play like this several times until you’ll find the exact setting. Finally lubricate those areas. This feature shall be improved and re-designed by the manufacturer.
