Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent saw but ... Power, features, and warranty are the reasons I chose Ridgid. If I had the choice again I might not. At this price point you can get a saw that has a cast base instead of the stamped base that comes with this saw. After the normal time spent tuning the saw to cut at 90° that needs to be done on any new saw, I discovered it would rip a straight edge on one side but not the other. The short side of the base was not straight. After a clean up of the stamping flash and "adjusting" the bow out of the base the saw cuts straight 90s from both sides. Picky maybe, but a cast base instead of stamped would not have been distorted to begin with.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than expected Lifetime service is what I'm after now. I have got almost a full set of DeWalt power tools, but most of them tend to break down one by one after their warranty periods. Tough decision to ditch DeWalt after thousands spent. No more new batteries, no more repair expenses. As a back up, I've been using some Ridgid tools like reciprocal saw, orbital sander, router, table saw, vacuums, ... They are still working great after 3 or 4 years. None is broken yet, surprisingly. However, a few areas need to be improved, such as loud noise, poor ergonomic feel. When you're a newbie, you might need DeWalt in your hand to look like a pro. When you are pro, you need powerful and reliable tools to speed up your work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Ridgid circular saw R-O-C-K-S! For the money, you just can't get a better saw. I paid $110 on sale and I passed up a Makita and a DeWalt to try this one out. I don't regret it a bit. Blade adjustment couldn't be easier, the base is heavy duty with a thick edge for running down a rip guide and the kirf marks in the base are dead on. I was cutting very wet decking and she never slowed down. The 15amp motor handle the biggest jobs and that 12' power cord can't be beat. I had myself convinced I needed a $200 saw to get good results but this thing rocks! Registered it for the lifetime service so I'll never have to buy another saw again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Honest review from a starting woodworker I will start by saying that right out of the box this saw felt like it meant business. Needed no adjustment. The first time I turned it on. It did the job I wanted. Pros: didn't feel any rattling, it gave me clean cuts with the factory blade and the grips are really comfortable. Flaw: the one flaw I found with this saw is that it doesn't fit well with aftermarket jigs for crosscut and rip cuts. I was using one and the setup went well until I came to tighten 1 of the screws on the jig to the saw. I had to work around the saw plate to accommodate the jig. It was my first ridgid tool and shortly after I went for another product from them. I am really happy overall with the product. With the exception of that flaw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not Your Average Product I enthusiastically echo the superlatives expressed by the other reviewers. This Ridgid product is so good; so well made and thought out it is hardly believable it can be in the same price class as some of the pedestrian competing models it is being compared to; Milwaukee, Dewalt, Skil, Ryobi etc. The design for 'useability' is what I like most. It is such a pleasure to use and makes the job go so quickly I find myself looking for more reasons to use it. All saws cut wood. Not many make it a joy to do so.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It I use this as a home owner and love it. It has a ton of power and smoothly makes clean cuts. It has the feel of a qualify tool. It does not have an electric break, so you will want to be mindful of that. You really can't go wrong at the price point.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reliable, good priced saw. for an every day saw I find it to be highly reliable. I really enjoy the little features they've added; like the light on the cord. the saw seems to be of solid construction, and has not let me down with it's preformance.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Saw wasn't usable I was looking forward to using the saw, since I hadn't had one for several years, and I own several other Ridgid products and have been totally satisfied with them. Out of the box the saw was inoperable. Appears a bearing (or ?) was defective. Load noise and the blade wouldn't track straight. So I guess I'll have to take it to a service centre to have it dealt with.

Does a modern 15 amp circular saw pop the 15 amp breaker when you start it up.

I remember having a 15 amp chop saw that required a "slow-blow" breaker/fuse because when it started up it briefly drew more than 15 amps.
Asked by: Anonymous
The saws have a high draw on start up, but the new motors are much more effecient. You should be fine off the shelf. If you breaker does pop, then check other things on the circuit.

No this is not covered as it is considered abuse of the tool. The warranty covers all service on defective parts except the blade which is a wearble part.
