Rated 5 out of 5 by from I got a good one I bought this little heater despite reading all the bad reviews of the thermocouple failing. I’ve ran 4 tanks dry now and not a single issue. This little thing will hear my 3 car garage with an11’ ceiling up in about 15 minutes. I absolutely love it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great while it works. This is my second unit in a year. Both units have ended up with the same issue and I’ve only went through an actual one tank of 20lb propane. The igniter won’t stay lite after pressing the button. What a total disappointment. I loved this heater while it worked. Tossed the first one off as a bad heater and figured the second would be good. Nope!! It didn’t last either. Now I don’t know whether the problem is fixed by Ridgid or if I should get a different brand heater. I liked it because I could use a battery in case of emergency.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great heater when it works I have had two of these heaters over the last two years. The first on stopped staying lit after going through about 1 full tank of gas. I promptly returned to the store and had it exchanged within the week. The second heater lasted me from November 2018 to January 2020. Just a few days ago It stopped staying lit on its own due to a bad thermo-couple. I have been able to make it work still while I find a solution to the issue. Overall when the heater works it is fantastic. It can heat up my 2-car garage from 30 degrees to 70 in about 10-15 minutes. Its compact and quiet and when hooked up to a battery its perfect for my needs. I know Ridgid knows about the issue as they released a "Fixed" Model in winter 2018 which I thought my second heater was. It is an unfortunate problem and I hope they can resolve the issue.

RIGID Portable Propane Heater….18 Volts, 30K to 60K BTU, Forced Air, Hybrid. This Beast is amazing. I am old school my old heater screwed on to the top of the propane can and was 9K to18K. I used it for well over 20 years till last year when it died. I was very skeptical about this Rigid propane heater. But I like what I read so I thought I’d give it a try. So happy I did. 15’ propane hose means I can leave the Propane can outside, The 18 Volt battery means I don’t have to plug it in and no cord to trip on. 30K and anything in between up to 60K BTU is a really great feature plenty to warm up my 460 sq ft Garage/workshop in 10 min unless it’s really cold then it takes about 15 min. This heaters operation is very quiet and the electric ignition makes it easy to start. This is a Great Product.

Does this have to be hooked up to propane or if when plugged into an outlet does that heat the coil?

Asked by: Scottiejunk
Hi Scottie, Yes it does need to be hooked up to a propane tank. The electric power required is just to power the internal fan. Thanks, Ridgid Canada

Can this heater be used indoors and does it need any accessories to be able to be used indoors?

Asked by: ffred1957
Hi Fred, We would not suggest using this tool indoors as the propane is used as a primary fuel. This will cause carbon monoxide build up indoors and it is not safe. Thanks, Ridgid Canada
