Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet little saw Just brought this home yesterday, bare tool but with a free ridgid mitre saw stand included in the package. Assembly was easy, and the quality seems good. Unfortunately, the hardware package was short some washers, such is life. It will cut a 7 1/4 board on a 90 degree cut, but I did not try it with heavy lumber as this will be my finishing saw, for heavy work I have my big Dewalt. I can’t comment on battery life yet, but I committed to the Ridgid battery tool system some time ago and find their batteries excellent. If you don’t have batteries and a charger you are looking at a couple hundred bucks more. The saw is light and easy to transport, (not like my Dewalt,) and the stand includes a handle and wheels for easy relocation, but only with the saw detached. The sawdust collector to the bag plugged in the first few cuts, but this is a common problem I have had with my last two saws, it simply sprays sawdust everywhere. Maybe hook a shopvac on the outlet? The accuracy of the fence was spot on out of the box, but the adjustment procedure is outlined in the manual if needed. An led lineup light is a useful accessory. I really like the saw!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One of the best tools that I’ve bought I bought this a month ago and don’t know how I got along without it. I always had to drag my 12” around with me even for small jobs. While I love the saw, I hate that Ridgid sometimes use cheap parts that wear out quickly. After just a month my saw continues to run when I take my finger off the trigger. I have the awesome LSA but the contracted repair shop that my local Home Depot uses provides terrible service. In order to get my saw looked at, I must be prepared to go at least a month without it. I’ll keep using as is until it stops working altogether. Even with this, I don’t regret buying it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cuts good, but flawed design. I am surprised at all the 5 star reviews. I bought one with the free battery promo and when I took it home and tested it the rails were very stiff. I was able to remove the bolts and to my surprise I had to clean out the gunk in 2 of them and noticed that where the bolts clamp down on the rails are rubber bits....rubber, for sliding rails...seriously? Anyways after cleaning the gunk I was able to fiddle with the tension to get it sliding "okay", just the last inch was still iffy. It was less noticeable under load cutting wood. What called it for me was how terrible the LED shadow line is compared to my Ridgid sliding 10", barely visible even indoors. It cuts great but personally I can't accept those two big flaws for saw that costs over $400 after tax, battery promo or not. I took it to the store to exchange it and even the employees were baffled at how terrible the rails were. We opened up the other box to see if perhaps the first one was just defective but to my dismay the rails had the same design flaw (not as bad as the 1st one though) and the LED was just as terrible, so I took a refund instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice, accurate saw. Good build quality. Just picked up this saw and haven't spent much time with it but my initial impression is that it is a well-built tool. Definitely lives up to the quality of other Ridgid power tools. No adjustments were necessary -- saw cuts accurately right out of the box although the blade that is included is garbage. If you will doing finish work a 60 tooth Diablo is a must have upgrade right away. Very light and easy to transport. The only odd thing I've noticed so far is that the right-hand sliding fence extension must be completely removed if you are making a bevel cut on the right-hand side because the battery will hit the fence as you slide forward in your cut. This could have been solved by relocating the battery. Other than that it seems like a very nice tool.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Wee Saw. " ONE MAJOR FLAW" OIL LEAK I bought this saw yesterday,as been waiting since 1st came out 5 yrs ago. I lived in Northern Ireland UK and wanted import one. Finally I get one and it's awesome wee saw. "EXCEPT "and beware I,m not 1st to have this issue.Theres oil leaking from Arbour/ motor mounting "straight out of box"Which could in turn dry up and seize saw. I,m filling out Lifetime warranty and hoping leak stop. Please see not one off issue in reviews. I LOVE MY RIDGID/ AEG TOOLS and hate degrading name.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW This saw has exceeded my expectations by a long shot. the quality of the build, the power the adjustability, the weight are all first class! I bought it on special with the miter stand and it is a perfect match .The stand is also an exceptionally well built and designed. accessary! I have been cutting 2x4 & 2x6 all day with no problems and battery last all day 5ah. I am selling my 12in beast as i rarely need to cut larger than 2x6. this will be my go to saw from now on. I couldn't be more satisfied !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome saw!!! The run time is excellent but the safety switch tends to stick. But it’s an easy fix. It also has lots of power for a battery operated saw. I’m very happy of the purchase. It was definitely worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VERY VERY IMPRESSED! RIDGID RULES! What an amazing set of tools (Ridgid). This mitre saw is amazing! Light weight, easily portable (most jobs I have require I pack in a generator to run my power tools). I am delighted with the shadow cut alignment and find it superior to my laser aligned (corded) mitre saw. The lifetime warranty on tool AND batteries is comforting. I have gone through a series of battery operated tools only to have the batteries eventually die and then to find the battery configurations have changed and are incompatible. (Yes, I know I could build my own, but isn't that counterproductive?) I've been using this and other brushless Ridgid tools for a while now. I am impressed with battery life and the power of these tools. Also handy is the battery display showing how much of a charge remains. I am in the process of replacing all my cordless tools in favour of the one Ridgid platform.

Is this a sliding compound miter saw? I don't always need the 12" and would like something more compact (read lighter).

Asked by: Sean H
Hi Sean H, Thanks for reaching out to us. This 18V Brushless Cordless 7-1/4-inch Mitre Saw does have a sliding and dual bevel capability. We hope this helps! Thanks, RIDGID Canada Team.

What saw would be best for building decks, 10” sliding corded or this 7 1/4” cordless?

Asked by: Potsy
It does depend on what dimension your deck material will be but I like the 71/4 because it is so light, it will cut nominal 2x8. Go for the stand if you can afford it, it makes cutting so easy. Joists may have to be cut with a hand circular saw.Talk to your Home Depot Sales person too.

Has any one bought this and found the motor to be noisy, like it has a bad bearing? I just recently bought this saw and have not cut anything with it yet, without the blade on the motor sounds normal, with the blade on it sounds like it has a bad bearing,

Asked by: canuckken
Yes it sounds like the bearings are going out or is it noise from the braked

Answers here say 2 x 8" max cut. The manual and homedepot.com answers indicate max width (@ 0 bevel, 0 miter) is 7.25". Could you please clarify/confirm? I have 2 x 8" boards to cut preferably without flipping but need battery (off grid). Thx.

Asked by: Carter
Hi -Carter, Thanks for reaching out to us. When this mitre saw is at 90-degree the maximum cut you'll receive is 2"x8". At 45-degree you'll receive 2"x6". We hope this information helps! Thanks, RIDGID Canada Team.

The overview for this product mentions that it is a sliding mitre saw however my impression is that it is not. Can someone please confirm if the overview is incorrect? Thx

Asked by: Marc
It is a sliding saw. I bought one a couple months ago. And it’s light. Better than carrying a 10” saw around, especially doing small jobs.
