I was impressed with the saw, It's not a sthl, but it did not cost 3000 dollars, I spent several hours cutting down 5 foot stumps, left by power co, average size of 8 to 10 inches. That little saw was a charm, ran through a 6 battery and the second battery indicated 3 bars. I usually use a sthl 279 gas chain saw which would have used up a thank of gas or more. It would have been faster but as I was working on a slope, the light saw was a better choice. For light work and branch cutting it's great. Not having to use gas is a big plus, especially when your only using it for 5 min to get rid of branches. I give it a 5

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent little saw and amazing warranty! I bought this saw because I already own several Rigid brand tools. Purchased because you can't beat the warranty. I also already own the batteries the saw requires. I have cut 2 bush cords of wood in 4' lengths, haul them home with my side by side and then use the gas saw to cut into 16" lengths for burning. Saw works great...just keep the chain sharp (haven't had to sharpen yet), and don't force it to cut or you'll tire out the battery. I was cutting dead standing ash and have cut up to 20" diameter without issue. Most were 12-15". It will cut a couple 12 - 15" trees down and limb and cut into 4' lengths with two 4 Amp batteries without issue.

Relativement léger, suffisamment compact et étonnament puissant (avec la batterie 6Ah), il est très facile de couper des branches et des troncs de 4 pouces avec la bonne technique. Je n'ai pas essayé rien de plus gros pour l'instant, mais je crois que ce serait assez facile de faire des troncs de 6 pouces dans du bois résineux. La garantie à vie est évidemment un facteur de décision important pour cet outil. Je ne l'ai pas encore essayé avec des plus petites batteries, mais la batterie 6 Ah dure très longtemps. Très content de mon achat jusqu'à maintenant!

I would be really curious to know what Ridgid has to say about this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This song exceeded my expectations So I was used to gas saws and was not expecting much from this when I bought it, just something to get some small brush around the House and maybe take on the quad But when I started using it, I was very surprised by its performance. It's not a gas machine, but my only other experience had been with the dewalt 20V Max and this one blows that out of the water in my tests It was cutting roughly twice as fast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handy and easy to use I bought this chainsaw to cut caragana trees and prune smaller poplar tree branches. It works better than I expected. I have used it for a total of approximately 5 minutes run time. The 4ah battery still has a 1/2 charge. That run time was enough to cut about 20 branches and trunks ranging from 1 inch diameter to 3 inch diameter. I also cut 6 logs that were 5 to 8 inch diameter. It works much faster and easier than a reciprocating saw and I don't have to mess around with mixed gas as when I use the larger gas chainsaw.

Hello, is the new 12 ah battery? from ridgid Model # AC840120 can be used with the ridgid chainsaw. Please. take the time to carefully check and confirm your answer, because on the American Home Depot site there are two completely contradictory answers

Why will this saw not run with a 4.0ah battery? I have several ridgid tools and all run well on these batteries but not the chainsaw.

My chainsaw doesn’t run with the one 4ah Maximum output battery I have but works with all my other regular batteries 4 or even 2ah.

How much chain oil should this use? I filled the tank almost to overflowing, and then used it for first time, 4X cuts thru 12" log. Then I checked oil and it was still full almost to brim. Luckily I did apply some oil manually, as chain looked too dry.

Thought about this more and I think for a brand new unit it's probably a good idea to manually pre-oil a new chain/bar. Because the new (previously dry) oil pump would take some extra time to prime itself, and at the same time the new bar and chain is very dry too. I did dribble some oil on the chain with my manual squirter, but mostly oiled the sides of the chain. That's probably not ideal, because the built in oiler directs oil into the middle channel groove of the bar, where the chain guide rides inside. My manual oiling of the outsides of the chain is not as useful. So I should have tried to dribble oil down into the groove of the bar, with the help of gravity... Probably hard to give such "Pre-Oil New Saw" directions in the owners manual, as it could be dangerous if somebody decides to run the motor to get the chain to spread their "manually" applied oil...

When the saw is bought with the battery does both have the LSA on the saw and the battery. 18v brushless chainsaw kit with 6.0Ah battery?

It says capable with all Ridgid 18v batteries when it isn’t with the 12ah .It also says pair with Max output batteries for best performance but the chainsaw does not have the 2 extra prongs to take advantage of the max output batteries.

The max batteries work on my ridgid saw. I use 6amp max works well and good run time. I'm not sure the 12 amp batteries were available when the saw was first released. I don't have any 12amp batteries so I can't comment on the fit of the 12 amp battery.
