Rated 2 out of 5 by from Could be a good tool, but couple of deal breakers Was hoping this would be a good hedge trimmer as I have other Ridgid 18v batteries, so buying into the "system" was appealing. However, upon using this hedge trimmer, there are 2 deal breakers for me. The estimated runtime (according to Ridgid) is between 8-10 minutes with the 2Ah battery. My real life tests roughly confirm this. Sure I can get a bigger battery, but the provided battery should be sized more realistically. So this trimmer is really for very small jobs only. Second deal breaker is the trigger to power on the tool. Really flimsy, not robust, on/off switch detent is very VERY weak, there is no solid feel to it at all. Seems like an after thought on such an important control. Disappointing. Returned the product for a different brand which is way more robust, way longer runtime, and cost just a little more than this tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Needed a lighter hedge trimmer I’ve been waiting a long time for Ridgid to come up with a cordless hedge trimmer. This thing is fantastic, excellent for the home owner, it’s light and I get some good time out of the batteries. Some might complain about the short time but I can get 20-30 minutes out of a battery. I don’t think anyone has “one” ridgid battery so it’s easy peezy switching to a fresh one. I absolutely love the swivel handle really makes vertical trimming a breeze.

This trimmer is quiet, virtually maintenance fee(other than blade sharpening), easy to use, I use a 4ah battery and get about an hours trimming done with it. I have been gradually swapping out gas products for battery products using RIDGID and have been very satisfied with overall performance and reliability.

The battery that came with lasted us for 20 min of usage time. since I two other batteries I completed the job easily. The feature to turn the direction of the blade is nice and convinient. My yard is 30 ft by 40ft.

I stopped bothering with quick trims because it took too long to add gas and get ready. Now even if it is just a quick 2 minute trim, I slap a battery on and it's done.

With the 6ah I was able to do a decent amount of trimming... The 2ah that came with it is not enough. I would suggest to buy the tool only and purchase the 6ah battery.

In the specs it shows the assembled weight is 10.075 lbs. but in the answers to a previous question the weight was given as 6.7 lbs. Which response is correct and does it include the weight of the battery?

I used this Rigid trimmer to trim a 40 foot hedge top and sides still had two bars of battery gauge. this was with the battery that came with it . i bought the 4amp battery for it as well but havent had to use it

Does the battery need to be removed to change the cut angle setting on the R01401KVNM?

I do not believe the battery needs to be removed in order to rotate the handle, but it is always recommended for safety purposes.
