Rated 5 out of 5 by from Figures you want to know. Just got it for workshop use. Just so everybody is clear, 200 psi is max tank pressure (cutout) Max regulator pressure (output) is 150 psi, most important, cut in pressure is 165 psi, so it will maintain 150 psi as long as you don't exceed its max flow output at set pressure. Quite, no not really it's a compressor, what do you expect. Portable, it's heavy (a good sign for me), you don't want to move it around too much, might even put wheels on mine. Build time from empty to 200 psi cutout is about 1 minute with no output, I am very happy with it :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet Half way through building a shed my 20 year old Craftsman Compressor died.... I initially bought a Husky and wasn't too thrilled with it, so I returned it and bought the 4.5 gallon ridgid...... i was skeptical about a small tank compressor, but figured I could find something else if I didn't like it...... I am thrilled with it, it's way quieter than my old craftsman and the husky one I bought..... I also have been using it on a 100 foot extension cord and not a single slow start like my craftsman did..... framed up all this with the Ridgid Framing Nailer and the compressor

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Two months later my ears still thank me. I bought this compressor a couple months ago when i finally reached the end of my rope with the obnoxiously loud curse that is my old compressor. Due to the noise i avoided my air tools whenever possible, when i put a new roof on the shed last spring I pounded each nail by hand. Enter the rigid 4.5 gal, i may have been more excited about this purchase than any other in recent history and Rigid did not disappoint. It's not "quiet" per say, no compressor is but it is hands down the quietest compressor in this size range i have owned. It's easy to use and the large handle is an effective countermeasure to the units weight.

It's not as loud as a traditional air compressor, but its definitely not 77dB quiet. That's ok though. I can deal with it. I had a flooring nailer and a finishing nailer attached to it and it did cycle on and off. The good thing was that the cycle never lasted very long at all. I did transport this thing all over the house several times a day and it was a decent amount of work, but compared to the alternative bigger compressors with less cfm's, this one worked perfectly. I laid about 700 sqft of hardwood floor and had no problem. My next task is to finish the basement and I plan on using this little guy to do the job. I would recommend highly recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tops for the handyman to the pro [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great all around portable compressor. 200 PSI is great for what I need. It’s portable, but, still a bit heavy…But then again I’m going on seventy years old. The duel pressure gauges are super handy, one shows tank pressure and the other gauge is adjustable to control whatever pressure you want to your too. Two output quick connectors make for easy use of different tools without having to change hoses. . . Nail guns, air ratchets, cleaning out air conditioning condensers, plus all types of jobs. . This is the way to go for small or big jobs. AAA+++ Highly recommended for the home handyman to the pro. Three year warranty is a big plus. .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't last I haven't had this compressor long enough for it to have the piston rod snap on it. IMO an air compressor, especially one that hasn't been abused, should last longer than 2 years. I use my air compressors on jobsites and have had several other brands over the years. None have ever blown up like this one. 1) Dead after 2 years of light use 2) not near as quiet as advertised 3) for as much as you pay for this tool it should last longer...............

Talk about customer satisfaction. Kara Cheetham took very good care of me when she learned about my issue. Got this to me before i realized is was at my front door. Waited for the right project to pull it out and give it the ultimate test on a project we re roofed in a hurry before Christmas. I had 3 Rigid roofing coil nailers and a framing gun operating at all times on a consistent. I have to admit it never stalled, over heated or hesitated to start at any given point. I kept a close eye on it during the progress of the work we performed. I strongly recommend this compressor. Lighter than all of the other I own and it really is quiet. Makes communication alot easier all day to speak from the ground up to someone standing on the roof of a house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful little compressor This thing is great. I have a framing company with 4 skilled guys and this compressor keeps up no problem. This is my second one first one crapped out in just under 2 years so I bought a makita Mac 2400. The Mac 2400 wasn't even close to the rigid so I took it back and bought another rigid. We work that little thing really hard 100 foot cord and 5000 watt generator never trips breakers and always keeps up even with LVL. So if your a framer that's wants an electric compressor that doesn't slow down I highly recommend the Rigid

Is this compressor strong enough to spray texture with a hopper gun in let’s say a 12x12 room with 8’ ceilings?

Asked by: Sacsean916
YES, and I've done drywall for over 35 years with the last 17 years specializing in small repairs, so I spray a LOT of texture through a hopper. My previous air compressor was a California Air and it has done the job for years on smaller jobs. On a big full room for example, spraying a fine pattern texture which takes a high CFM to break up the texture, it would struggle to keep up. So I just upgraded to this. Note that this model puts out nearly double the CFM of my old unit, so if I could get by with that one, this model will easily keep up for most any texture spraying use. I also am buying the Graco Fast Finish hopper with uses air to pressurize the hopper to push mud out faster, and more air to atomize it, so that's the main reason for the upgrade for me. IF you use a Wallboard type hopper, or harbor freight model, etc, it will do just fine (I have 3 other hoppers, and now will have one more). I teach how to spray textures and understand the variables on my youtube channel under That Kilted Guy if you want to know more. Note that CFM is more important than air pressure, but I explain that in my videos.

Will this compressor pressurize a gas service line up to 160lbs? I'm a gas contractor who needs to test service lines to homes at a minimum of 150lbs, and all other electric air compressors Ive found are regulated down below this. Please specify whether the 200psi is maximum output pressure or tank pressure? Thanks!
Asked by: mbb025
Mbb025, The tank pressure will reach 200psi. It is not advisable to use that much pressure at one time but 150psi should not pose a problem. Thanks for asking. Greg

On its gauge, does this reach 200psi actual?

I have a 225 psi max rate . That shows only 150/psi on the gauge.
Asked by: as
Thank you for your question. My name is Lynn from the Ridgid team. If you are referring to the tank pressure (left gauge) yes, it should get to the max pressure if left running until it is full. The right gauge is the outlet pressure and has to be adjusted with the knob to get max pressure. Please contact us at 1-866-539-1710 for more information.
