Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Solid and works well but very loud. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First thing I want to note is how loud this unit is. Please make sure you wear hearing protection. Now that I'm done with my public service announcement, what a well built tool. This is fairly heavy for its size but it does exactly what it is suppose to and will drive nails with no effort on your part. It is small enough to drive nails in pretty tight places where a hammer wouldn't fit. Keep in mind it is only to be used with larger head nails. I was playing with it and had a large finish nail and I managed to jam it so make sure you are using the recommend 6d nails and it works.

It is made nicely and the cost is a plus. I used this to put up pickets on a fence. The palm nailer was ready to use right out the box. It does come with lube as well. It does have several different settings for how far you want the nail to be driven. Once you determine the setting you want to use and air pressure, this makes driving nails so much easier and saves time significantly. Occasionally some nails turned, but I had a hammer handy and pulled them out and kept going with the palm nailer. I was very impressed with this palm nailer and definitely see myself using it in the future for DIY jobs.

I drove in about forty 3 1/2" galvanized nails into pressure treated 4x4's and 2x6's and it performed flawlessly. Toenailing takes a little more finesse but it's not difficult. The magnet that holds the nails into place is strong...none of the nails fell out on me. It's comfortable in the hand, right or left and it drives in nails quickly. It has a very easy to use 3 setting depth-of-drive adjustment dial to set the nail depth of choice. This palm nailer made my job so much easier today. For only $60 it's well worth the investment. Very happy with this purchase!

The palm nailer was ready to use right out of the box.Plenty of power to drive even 16 penny nails. The hand strap has proven to be handy by allowing me to release my grip and rest my hand. There is a slight learning curve when using longer nails.I bent a few of the long 3" nails .Overall i am very pleased with its performance and ease of use. I added a couple of drops of the supplied oil prior to each days use.I have only had this palm nailer about a month but i believe it will last me a lifetime. The nailer also drives the nails faster than I ever expected.Great for tight spaces and hanging joist hangers or hurricane clips.

I removed a wall at a hair salon that had a cold air return in it and there was 3 joist spaces with no floor that I had to repair. There was no way I could have added support for the new subfloor without taking the entire cold air return apart in basement which was no easy feat because of drain and waterlines, but I was able to easily reach the palm nailer into cold air return through the holes cut in floor and add nailers to install subfloor. Saved me easily a half days work! Tool paid for itself just in this first job! Highly highly recommend this tool!! Great for tight spaces and awkward positions

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Dont forget to register within 90 days or else you will have a paper weight. My RIGID Palm Nailer R350PNF worked good until it broke. If you forget to register within 90 days you get to pay an exorbitant price for their repair parts. The cheap $1 broken stem in the picture now cost $25.31. Having a cascade effect the cheap broken stem then destroyed the $51.51 Cylinder. Considering a new Palm Nailer cost $59.98 it now becomes a paper weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for NAILING IN TIGHT SPACES [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Rigid 3 1/2 in Palm nailer is a must have for nailing in tight spots. This works great for nailing many metal brackets (i.e. joist hangers, rafter tie downs, strapping, etc). There are many places that are difficult or impossible to nail by hand. This unit is light weight, yet rugged and a great specialty tool to have on framing jobs. I used this nailer on a volunteer building project to nail rafter tie down brackets...much easier and faster than manual nailer!

The quality control however is sorely lacking. The machining of the nail-holding cylinder on the unit I received is severely off center to the point that a third of the cylinder wall is so thin that I fully expect it to fracture with any reasonable amount of use. I should return it, but that is a lot of trouble on my part, and no guarantee that it won't be some other issue. When people are not taking even the most perfunctory look at an item before sending it on down the line, then you are relying pretty much on luck. It is essentially the equivalent of buying a new car with flat tires...pretty obvious. fwt

Nails longer than 3-1/2 - If i need to drive a longer nail, say 4.5", can I still use this to drive the first 3-1/2" and use a regular hammer to drive the rest of the nail in?
Asked by: SunnyNC
I have not tried a nail that long. I have however, found that drilling a small pilot hole first, works well in completing a successful project. You should have the same results with a longer nail because of the less resistance..

Canvyou use this for finish nails?

Asked by: Jorge07
NO - Just bought one of these and you can see the inside shaft would allow the small head to get in between the driver and sidewall. I know this question is 2 years old but seeing a RIGID person say YES you can is horrible! Every one will jam. I even tried it and it jammed..it will NOT work with finish nails. Please get that RIGID person some more training.
