Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great in between joists I picked up this tool because I needed to nail some 3 1/2 inch nails through 2 pressure treated 2x10 joists while in a confined space. This tool made the job a pleasure. I ended up also using it to nail a few 2x10 joists around the edge of a deck. I was supporting one end with a clamp, and holding the other end with one hand while I used my free hand to operate the tool. Again I was very pleased with how well it performed and how it made my life much easier. Although I've only used it to drive about four dozen nails so far in the course of an hour or so, I was very impressed with it. And considering I bought it for $79 (regular price at the time) and it came with Ridgid's lifetime service agreement, it was well worth the investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Palm Nailer Wow!! Need to drive a nail where big nailers won't go and swinging a hammer is impossible, this is the unit. Got the technique down with the first nail. Drove a 3 1/2" Ardox in 2 seconds with no effort in a spot I could barley see. Drove a couple more to make sure. Perfect!! Other ones out there but can't match the Ridgid for price and warranty. Highly Recommended. Showed it to a couple buddies and they bought their own. P.S. Nice case.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good hammer replacement even for high-vol nailing Bought this to frame my basement with 16d 3 1/2" nails on 2x4 studs. Didn't want to spend triple the cost on a framing nailer for this one-time project. It worked great. Although you won't save much time versus a regular hammer (takes 3-4 secs to hammer the 16d nail flush in the stud), you'll prevent arm fatigue after 1500 nails! My only recommendation for higher-volume nailing is to have a med to high capacity air compressor as the entry level 1 gallon compressor I had allowed me to hammer 3-4 nails before recharging from 40 back up to 100 psi (waiting 90 secs). You need at least 40psi for the nailer to work though nails at that pressure will take at least 10 secs to get in the wood flush. Only minor complaint is that after a period of non-use, the head slightly locks up requiring a greater force for that first nail to initially get pounded into the wood. This results in poorer angle control, but subsequent nails hammer in with good precision thanks to the magnetic tip.

How many nails will this hold at once???

Asked by: Anonymous
The nailer will hold one nail at a time. This makes it great for getting into tight spots or doing joist hangers without hammering. Takes up to 3 1/2 inch nails with a common head. Does not take finishing nails.

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes as long as it is a common head nail. Not for finishing nails.

Will this drive a 1 1/2 " coated box nail into a fence picket flush with no surface marring or dimpling?

I'm building a 3ft Victorian picket fence around the front yard. I want the nails on the pickets to be flush with no marring or dimpling.
Asked by: Anonymous
You can set the depth on this unit. It has 3 settings. Raised for joist hangers, flush and a slight countersink. Try on a scrap piece of material before going to nail "the real thing"

Can this nailer drive masonry nails?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes it can. Although this will lessen run time as this is a heavy application compared to putting nails in wood
