Yes; my drapes are fairly heavy (64" with blackout lining and extra fullness). What seems to lead to them breaking down is not the weight, but their exposure to sun, which of course cannot be avoided. But that takes years.

You have to remove the old ones from the traverse rod on the end of the rod and then install the new ones into the same slot.
