We were very disappointed with the inability to slide garment hangers along the entire length of the closet rail. We replaced it with a Rubbermaid free slide system. It was easy to install and it supports all of our items easily.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like it Works very good and simple to install although it works best with two people working together. The only drawback is the 12" unit only comes in 4', 8', and 12'. Why a 6' unit is not made is beyond me. They make it in the wider model.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Why Change Things I have used Rubbermaid products for years and the design was both practical and cost-effective. Now you have to buy them in fixed lengths and the new design does not match what is in other closets. Great way to force consumers to change to suit the corporation but not very customer focused. Who asked for it other than as a marketing tool to show that there is something new.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Proper Installation I have installed RubberMaid shelving in over 10000 houses. None of the shelves have come off the wall. You need to use all the proper hardware and not blame Rubbermaid because your framing is too shallow.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I love my closet! I have two 22" deep closets that I wanted to transform from single hang to double hang. This system worked wonderfully. It was my first time EVER installing a closet system and both closets came out level and great. And YES my closet doors close even though it is 22" deep. Not sure what the other posters problem was. i will say this, I had to buy an impact driver to get the screws into the wall studs. Research that before you get started. It also made the installation quick work.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Spacing doesn't work with fastrack uprights Just bought the hanging rail, fastrack uprights and free slide shelves for closets. System installed easily, looked great. When we hung the clothes on the freeslide hanger, we discovered a problem. Most closets are somewhere betweeen 22" and 23" deep - depending on whether you have drywall or plaster walls. I have plaster walls, so I have appr 22" of depth. When you install the 12" freeslide shelf with the brackets on the uprights, the bar you hang your clothes on is actually about 13.5" from the back wall. That only leaves 8.5" of clearance between the rail and the front of the closet. This means that my clothes don't fit at either side of the door, and even in the center of the door opening, the clothes push against the back of the sliding doors. I am now going to rip everything out, and install the shelves without the hanging rail, uprights or shelf brackets. This way the hanging rail will sit 12" from the rear wall, leaving me with at least 10" of space between the front of the shelf and the front wall and doors. This will mean having to fill a bunch of holes in the wall, and then repainting the closet again (which I just did). The rail system would likely work great in a walk in closet, but if you just have a standard depth closet - measure twice and don't install the hanging rail, uprights and shelf brackets. It would be great if Rubbermaid supplied a hanging rail on a 10.5" shelf, or at least gave some warning about this to consumers.
