Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use I bought a can of this to paint an old varnished chair. It took two coats and looks fabulous! I had enough paint left to do two dressers as well!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Covid distraction During the beginning of Covid, I needed distraction, so I painted a lot of furniture. I like the paint, considering it is the only choice out there right now. I do prime the furniture first, as I found I was just using WAY to much paint otherwise. Because the pain is thick, it did help to spray my paintbrush with water. I found it helped provide a smoother coat.

Can chalk paint be used on a melamine cupboard door?

Asked by: Ginger
Hi Ginger, Chalk paint can be used on almost everything but if it is a slick surface like melamine you will want to sand it down just a bit with fine sandpaper to help the paint stick. You'll also want to seal it after painting with Rustoleum Matte Clear Finish. I have used Rustoleum chalk paint on glass, wood, ceramic, melamine, and metal, and as long as it is sealed afterwards you shouldn't have any problems. Hope this helps. Sandra

If a surface is varnished do you have to sand it first before applying the chalk paint?

Asked by: crazie
You don’t have to do any prep work other than making sure that the surface is clean
