Rated 3 out of 5 by from Rustoleum primer and epoxy paint Product seems to be standing up. But the workers at home depot can barely do their jobs. Ordered 3 cans of primer and 3 cans epoxy paint and they couldn’t even shake them before I picked them up, everything was separated from factory. This is standard practice when buying paints. Then dismissed me when I called the store.

Can I paint my basement floor with this and then pour self leveling concrete over it? Will the concrete adhere to this primer?

Asked by: ChrisZag
Hi ChrisZag, We cannot guarantee the concrete will adhere to the Rust-Oleum Garage & Interior Floor Primer as it was designed to be top coated with floor coatings. We recommend poring your self-leveling concrete first and then prime once cured. Allow new concrete to cure for a minimum of 28 days.

Can I use this to cover old flooring glue from carpet or linoleum?

Asked by: Maryswaves
I would not do that. The old glue needs to be ground off and removed

Hello I am painting a concrete basement floor. How long does this take to dry till we can walk on it?

Asked by: Lucy
Hi Lucy, Garage & Interior Floor Primer must be allowed to dry a minimum of 6 hours, but no more than 48 hours, to walk on it in order to apply a top coat. This wait time ensures proper adhesion of topcoat.

Follow-up question... Can this primer be used on the exterior apron of my garage (the few inches of concrete directly outside of the garage door) then top-coated with an exterior concrete solid acrylic paint?

Asked by: sergio
Hi Sergio, Unfortunately, our Garage & Interior Floor Primer is not recommended for the exterior portion of your garage floor, even when top coated with an exterior paint.

Can you paint over this primer with an concrete acrylic paint instead?

Asked by: sergio
Yes - I applied Primer as my first step, then about a week later once the Primer had enough time to cure, I applied an acrylic paint over the surfacce area, I used Behr products in both cases and am very pleased with my results...

can I this primer to cover acrylic and/or 1 part epoxy Behr garage paint.

Asked by: RWC1
Hi RWC1, Yes, you can use this primer over your painted floor. Wire brush first to remove any loose or peeling paint. Sweep away any dust and clean entire floor with a cleaner and degreaser. Sand any bare concrete with 60-80 grit and rinse and thoroughly dry before priming. Allow the primer to dry for a minimum 6 hours, but no more than 48 hours to ensure proper adhesion to the top coat.

If I end up liking the colour and coverage, do I need to do a top coat? Can I do 2 coats of the this instead?

Asked by: Diynew
Hi Diynew, Our Garage & Interior Floor Primer is designed to be top coated. It will not hold up on it's own, even with 2 coats.
