Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hard to apply Didn't like it. Very hard to apply. Maybe suitable for a professional painter with a lot o experience and proper equipment. The end result was adequate.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tub and tile refinishing- ok for tubs This product works well for a tub, but it is difficult to get an even finish on tile. It is streaky and looks terrible. We bought it to refinish two bathrooms. One bathroom, the one where we painted the tiles, looked so bad we had to redo the walls. The product fumes are harsh, so it’s best to use this product in a well-ventilated area and leave the house for a few days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked wonders on cast iron tub. I used this to refinish a very old Clawfoot Tub and it worked wonders. When you mix the two components together, it feels very watery, but once you start to apply it to the tub, it evens out and thickens up for a clean finish. Brought my tub back to life. I patched some chips in the iron using JB epoxy filler and followed up with this afterwards.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rust-oleum for tub and tiles too expensive and one kit is not enough to paint 3 coats of the tub, you have to buy another kit Most bathtubs need 3 coats.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product if you have a lot of patience This product does a good job and makes things look new and fresh but it is EXTREMELY finicky. Your work area and surface must be 100% dust free. I had to restart the process from scratch a few times because contaminants didn't allow the paint to stick. It was a bit of a nightmare, but if you have the time, it will still save you a lot of $ from having to rip out the old and install new tiles/tubs/etc.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolutely did not work. Made everything worse. As the title states, this product made everthing far worse. Followed the directions carefully, allowed extra time to dry between coats and and an extra day to cure. It all flaked and made a disaster of everything. Wish I had never attempted this.

Can this product be used on steel bathtub? Does the bathtub require self-etching primer prior to its application? Can it be applied over original existing paint on steel bathtub, or does it need to be sanded down to bare steel surface and primed prior?

    Asked by: Matt
Hi Matt, Unfortunately, we do not recommend our Tub & Tile Refinishing kit for metal surfaces, including your steel bathtub. It was designed for ceramic tile, porcelain, glazed block, fibreglass, cement, grout, etc. If you were to use a primer, we would not be able to stand behind the product as it was not meant to be applied over a primed surface. We apologize for the inconvenience but we hope this new information is helpful.

I see this works on ceramic or porcelain tile - how do I know what kind of tile I have in the bathroom?

    Asked by: VanAlex
I didn't know what tile I had, but I think it's all about the prep work. If you sand it down and follow the instructions (and keep the space as dust-free as humanly possible), it should stick. I don't think the type of file matters much (in my opinion).

Does 1 kit cover 100sq/ft for 2 coats? Instructions indicate 2 coats required. Would a 100sq/ft shower need 2 kits for 2 coats?

    Asked by: ppppp
Hi, One mixed kit will cover a standard tub or shower area with two medium coats (approx. 100 sq. ft). Coverage will vary depending on film thickness, efficiency (amount of over-spray) and porosity of the surface.

Can this paint be sprayed through a paint gun and if so does it need to be thinned and what thinner would be best?

    Asked by: ERNDOG
Hi Erndog, Yes, our Tub & Tile Refinishing Kit can be applied with a paint sprayer. This will give you the smoothest 'tile-like' appearance. A small amount of thinning with xylene may be necessary if spraying.
