Rated 5 out of 5 by from not really bronze more black I've been buying and using this particular product for over a year and have gone through a half dozen cans easily. I love it. It doesn't finish at all like its showing in this photo - It is metallic black for the better part. Have used on metal and wood and love the effect on both. On metal I highly suggest using a gloss coat so it doesn't scuff and peel. Adhesion without a primer is awesome! I also find it works best and uses less paint when using the spray paint handle tool. - so much easier to apply even coats and saves so much paint. I followed the instructions as directed and haven't had any issues other than the colour itself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Finish!! Used this upon recommendation from a lovely staff member at Home Depot. Best metallic spray paint I have ever used, worth the price for sure. The angle spray made getting coverage so easy, it did take a few coats but for good coverage without over spraying and getting "drips" and clumps, it's necessary. Be patient and let it dry between coats! I finished a light fixture, cabinet pulls and toilet paper holder, have not had any issues with chipping. Love the finish. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality metallic paint It resembles brass really well. I painted the base of a 1930s floor lamp that had the base all marked up and ruined. It gave the lamp a new life. It’s also a durable finish as I’ve bumped into it with the vacuum a few times and it’s not scratched or chipped. I’d totally buy it again. It has a strong odour but that is typical of any paint that’s going to give you a durable finish.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from rustoleum oil rubbed bronze spray paint This type of Rustoleum paint spray cans, leak and slobber from the trigger and put more paint on your hand than on the object you are trying to paint. If they would put the paint in a descent spray can, the paint is fine

Rated 2 out of 5 by from OK product, poor design I originally bought this to paint some ceramic lamp sockets to match some black iron pipe for a lamp I was building. Pros: - The colour turned out perfect for my application Cons: - The colour was not what was expected from the cap. It's much closer to back, but in my situation this actually worked out. - The paint scratches off fairly easily. - The design of the spray can is AWFUL! This fancy trigger system was obviously developed as a visual enhancement to traditional spray cans, but with the side effect of them barely working. Paint leaks everywhere and drips off the can. You'll end up with more paint on your hands then on the work surface. If you shake the can too much after starting, paint splatters can fly out of the cap/trigger as well so watch out. I'm used to shaking a spray can periodically during the painting process so this was really bad for me. As standard spray paint can would be a huge improvement for this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from terrible nozzle/trigger Over the past few weeks I have tried this product, three times, as I loved the carbon mist color that this line carried, and once I had applied the first coat I knew this was a poor choice, but thought maybe I got a faulty can. What happens is the nozzle/trigger, it sprays nicely for a few seconds before leaking all over your fingers and possibly dripping into your fresh coat, as well as after only seconds of use it starts to sputter and then go again. All this and you must apply extremely light coats very far apart in time or it will not cure and will remain soft for months. Ive tried a few new cans of this, and had to remove all this paint from my project and bought the local “beauty tone” In similar colour for few dollars less a can with normal spray nozzle and was so much better to work with. Will not buy rustoleum “metallics” again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Defective dispenser I must say first off I have used this paint before with great success but this time the dispenser was defective . While spraying the lever mechanism kept sticking on and then while going back inside the house paint dripped out of the housing onto the carpet . Obviously paint had leaked out of the nozzle into the top enclosure . Just a complete disaster !! Ever try to remove dark bronze paint from off white carpet ??? Yea not so much !

Rated 4 out of 5 by from kind of ok I bought 3 cans of gold paint and 2 can didn't spray at all which I was able to remove the cap from another to make it work, also at times the paint would be very blotchy so I had to remove immediately and repaint again. I notice 2 months later that the paint scratches off easily. Not too happy with that.

Can this product be used to paint household radiators?

Asked by: bob27
Hi bob27, Our Metallic Spray Paint and Primer will withstand up to 180-200 degrees Fahrenheit. If the surface temperature exceeds that when the radiators are on, the paint will start to crank and peel off.

Can this product be used on bathroom faucets?

Asked by: Lori
Hi Lori, Our Metallic Spray Paint and Primer can be applied to metal surfaces such as your bathroom faucets. Just keep in mind, it may need to be recoated more often from the wear and tear it will be exposed to since this is a high touch area and the surface will get wet more frequently. Clean the surface really well and scuff sand lightly with 220-grit for maximum adhesion. Remove the sanding dust and paint. We do highly recommend you cover surrounding surfaces as the overspray can get onto them and it can be hard to remove. Always remember to test on a small area first.

Does this need any varnish? I used this last year on a garden statue and a lot of it has flaked off. It's been outside the whole time, including through the winter. Thanks. Gillian

Asked by: Gillian
Hi Gllian, We're sorry to hear your Metallic application lasted only a year. It was designed to withstand extreme exterior applications. If you'd like to try again, we recommend cleaning the surface well, wire brush to remove any loose paint and wipe the surface afterwards with Mineral Spirits. Next apply a few coats a few minutes apart of the Metallic Finish. You can apply a clear finish for extra protection. However, a clear top coat will dull the metallic finish.
