It has a Bit of a high pitched sound like a large shopVac. Nothing like my two stroke Steal blower my wife hated for noise & smell from gas & oil mix. I didn’t know if this cordless blower would hold up in comparison to my Heavy duty Steal blower but it does a good job! She bought me this one because the Steal Blower stunk up the house after using it outside & was worried I’d do the same to my neighbours. My wife is much happier now that there’s no smell related to this cordless blower. And I enjoy just picking it up when ever I need it. The only down fall is that I wish it came with two batteries, that would make using cordless products easier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As powerful as a gas blower. As powerful as a gas blower. I bought this for my wife’s 75th birthday. She likes to blow/sweep our 2000 sq. ft. deck regularly, but she has difficulty starting our gas blower. She was completely surprised by this lavish gift - apparently it was not exactly what she had in mind as a suitable present for a 75 year old. woman. It was three weeks before she actually condescended to use it. It worked like a dream and she grudgingly admitted that maybe it wasn’t such a bad gift after all. Unfortunately, the blower broke down after three or four uses - made a lot of noise but didn’t move enough air to put out a flickering candle. I took it back to Home Depot where they replaced it quickly with no fuss. So far I have not unpacked this new blower. If it doesn’t work, I will post an update to this review.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from First bad Ryobi experience I have lots of Ryobi tools but this is the worst experience I've had so far. Out of the box, I charged the battery full. Ran the unit for like 10 minutes and then no air out but you can still hear the unit on. I figure the battery was low. Indicator is at 50% on battery so unit should still work. I decide to charge the battery. The charger won't turn on. I figure battery is hot so let sit for 2 hours. Charger still won't turn on so can't charge battery. Needless to say, I return the unit and upgrade to a different brand. Went with the Ego 56V. Little bit pricier but it's lighter, more power, intake is well designed and won't suck up your pants while in use, has a base so it sits flat when put down, speed control with turbo and it is quieter. When it was working, had way more power than my 18V Ryobi (and so it should) and I would have given it 4 stars. But having 2 defects kinda turned me off.

EVEN WHEN THE BATTERY WORKED FOR A FEW MONTHS IT WAS USELESS AND UNDER POWERED!!! IT DESERVES A NEGATIVE RATING BUT I HAVE TO GIVE IT A 1.

Of course he hasn’t had an opportunity to use it on grass or leaves yet but he did use it to blow snow off his ice rink. He is very happy with the battery charge as well which I had been worried would be too short for him. Great product!

The part where the fan connects to the motor is a square metal shaft into plastic. The motor was turning fine, but the fan was stuck so the coupling melted / ground out so that the fan didn’t spin. Returning.

I was sold on the fact that the batteries are Interchangeable for all the 40v tools, that being said will be rethinking purchasing other Ryobi Products. may have to return this one.
