Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good hobbyist saw This is a good hobby level household tool. It does not compare with upmodels from other brands so manage your expectations. That doesn't mean it won't be very useful if used correctly. Of course having it part of the Ryobi 18V family help it make sense even if it isn't the ultimate circular saw for every need. I'll make a special note about power. This particular tool, as with others I've experienced in the Ryobi 18V family, loves a bigger battery. The performance of the tool with a 4.0AH battery versus a 1.3AH battery is night and day. I'm not talking about run time. I'm talking about cutting power. Completely different experience.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from reasonable priced purchased accidentally as ,, open box' - but no regrets, it paid off quickly. Note : I use Oshlun SBNF-065060 6-1/2-Inch 60 Tooth TCG Saw Blade , it will cut well but must lube it or spray over the blade with W40 prior each cut (!), for wood or comp. panels > cutting same story use 60+ or 90 tooth blade then you'll see a difference in each passing. Factory attached (included) blade is useless. Also remember to use regular 4AH battery, small 1,5 AH battery will die or not deliver proper acceleration. No need to spent 3 times more money, Ryobi saw does the job, but you need a special blade / search first - than buy with confidence.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good saw Picked up this saw as part of a "starter" pack and except for the ni-cad batteries it came with, it has performed great. When we fenced our yard, this was the only saw we used to cut fence boards & 2x4 lumber. The ni-cad batteries could barely make it through a couple of cuts before being useless. The Li-Ion batteries however are a totally different animal and cut more than 50 boards before slowing down. Not an issue for me as I have 7 Li-Ion batteries, so a spare was always ready. Still on the original blade and have a pack of spares waiting when the need arises. Very handy when I don't want or need to haul out the corded circular saw. Think I have used the corded saw only once in the last 3 years since purchasing this saw

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy this Saw! For the price this is the best battery powered saw out there, bar none! I have two of them. One with Lithium Ion Batteries and one older one with the regular batteries. They both work great! The only caution I have for you is that there does not seem to be any difference in the charge time on either batteries. The Lithium Ion batteries last just as long as the regular ones. You might think that this tool is cheap because of the price, but I have used this on two big building jobs and it is great when you are working up high and need a light saw to zip off a piece of sheating. The quality is there so do not be fooled by the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mediocre Product Out of all of the products I've bought this summer I have to say this circular saw is the likely the weakest. I might have to buy a better blade or something. When cutting 2x4's it starts to jerk back after a while. The battery heats up really really quickly and once it's hot you have to put it on the charger and wait an hour for it to cool down and charge. I use the same batter with my Ryobi Impact Driver and I never have a heating issue. I guess it's a hit or a miss. I use my Kobalt Compound Mitre saw to make most of my cuts so I can avoid having to use this machine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Am I the only one? Bought this saw about two weeks ago to do some home renovations. Made sure both batteries were fully charged. Used the brand new blade that came with the saw, made maybe 40 cuts through 2" x 6". The blade started to grumble after about 20 cuts and I ended up doing a double cut (3/4" one side and then turning the wood over) and now the blade won't even go thorugh 5/8" ply. Don't get me wrong - the saw itself is a really nice tool, lightweight easy to handle and versatile and it is one of several Ryobi 18V One + tools that I have but I can't believe that the blade would dull so quickly. Am I the only one that has had this problem? None of the other reviews seem to mention it. Has anybody tried replacements from other blade manufacturers?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does a decent job This circular saw came with my big tool kit. Although it is not very powerful, it is excellent for the odd job and on site light duty. The blade and motor are powerful enough to slice through a 2x4. The saw is more adequate for thinner wood. RECOMMENDED Advantages: - Quiet - Saw dust doesn't go too far - lightweight - Blade on the LEFT side, a big plus Disadvantages: - not very powerful. You also need a real saw!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buyer Beware Bought this item at the closest Home Depot (110kms away), returned home and found it came without a battery. I had read the box at the store but on no side did it indicate that it lacked a battery. There is NO clear indication that a battery is not included except online..unless it was hidden under the Home Depto sticker which I am loath to take off as it can prejudice my return. In fact, even the listed specification on the box begins with "Battery 18V". A Home Depot Ryobi 18V battery with a charger inbuilt charger function costs 79.00..the approximate price of this entire item.

How many cuts for the saw with fully charged battery?

Asked by: Major
There are many sizes of batteries available for this saw. So cannot answer this question. The saw is a good one , but the batteries sometimes fail. Many people have told me they also have had ryobi batteries fail. With cobie 19, you cannot return anything to home depot , maybe later.

would this saw be suitable for trimming the ends of 6x1 composite deck boards?

Asked by: noname
This is a decent circular saw, I’d toss a better blade on her like a Diablo Finishing blade. But as long as you don’t plan on using this for a source of income, it’ll probably do you great.

The washer that holds the blade is brown/red in color, not sure if rusty out of the box. Is that normal?

Asked by: RamS
Hi RamS, Thanks for reaching out to us regarding the 18V ONE+ 6-1/2-inch Cordless Circular Saw. The washer that holds the blade should not be rusty out of the box, but it will not have any affect on performance. If you would like, the unit can be taken back to the store at which it was purchased and exchanged within 90 days with a valid receipt. Thanks, RYOBI Canada Team.

will this cut 1/8 " hardboard without shredding it at the cut line?

Asked by: Gary
Hi Gary, Thanks for reaching out and great question. This 18V ONE+ 6-1/2-inch cordless circular saw will be able to cut 1/8" hardboard if you do the following. Let the tool ramp up to full RPM before proceeding to cut any material especially hardboard. We would also advice getting a fine tooth blade that helps with smoother cuts. Doing both of these will help cut through this material and several others. We hope this helps. Thanks, RYOBI Canada.
