The RYOBI 8 in. 18V ONE+ Pruning Chain Saw is the ideal saw for easily trimming limbs around the yard. This chain saw has a compact and lightweight design which reduces fatigue, allows for easy transportation, and storage. Featuring side access chain tensioning, quickly adjust the bar and chain while conveniently storing the combination wrench in the on-board tool storage area. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect little tool, great value, plenty of power Wow! My wife and I have both used this to clean up tree branches brought down by a late winter storm. Perfect tool. We used it intermittently for several hours and a (larger) 4 amp hour battery was showing 3 out of 4 bars remaining. I got tired before the battery ran out. So easy to use, quiet, no need to mix gas, no need to start - just push the buttons. Small enough to handle easily, cuts through 4 inch branches easily. You need to oil the chain manually, but that's ok, - you just need an oil can and don't forget.I tested in on an 8 inch one, and it was ok, to my surprise, but that's more than it's designed for. I've been married 30 years and my wife said it's the best thing we've ever bought.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from broke after 3 months, HORRIBLE after sales service I bought this 3 months ago, it works great for removing branches from trees, however after 3 months of use, the unit is not working anymore. Ryobi gave me a repair shop to drop the saw WITH CHARGER AND BATTERY to have it checked, the center is more than 1h drive away they have 8-5 schedule and they told me it would take 1.5 month to get it fixed. Now I don't have battery for my other 18v tools, I need to purchase another chainsaw to finish my work before winter.. This is unacceptable Ryobi...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little Saw I've used this a few times now and am very impressed with it's operation. I can use it one-handed (even if the manual says not to). It's great for trimming limbs. It had no problem going through a 4 inch limb. Very useful and convenient. No oil to add, no gas to run and doesn't need an electrical cord. Slap a battery in and away you go. I can see using this to cut down small trees. As I'm getting older and more decrepit (as according to my children) this saw is making life much easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Moosenator 8.0 We had previously used hand saws and battery recip saws to quarter big game. I saw this and thought for the price I would give it a try. I cleaned the chain and bar in the dishwasher and reassembled it with cooking oil for lube. We got a moose and after field dressing it, it took less than 10 minutes to quarter it. Good clean cuts and the chain seams to still be sharp. The 4 AH battery held up no problem.

But quite frankly, this is easier to use for small projects than bringing out the full chain saw. I bought with the included battery package. That deal was too good to pass up.

It works great on the thick branches, but the chain is a bit too coarse for the thinner ones. The just snag and get jerked out of my hand. I think I'll use the saw and a set of loppers together as a team.

What is the best way to oil the chain so it doesn't melt the bar?

What I do is put a bit of oil on a paper towel or rag and rub it on the chain. Been working good so far, I oil it before I cut new branches, this saw is amazing so far, I have cut a lot of tree branches.

Hi -Kiki, Thanks for reaching out to us. This 18V ONE+ 8-inch Pruning Saw has an automatic bar oiling system. In fact all of our 18V, 40V, and gas powered chainsaws, pruners, and pole saws use this same method. Located on one side of this pruning saw is an oil tank, you will fill this tank up with bar oil. The product will determine when the bar needs more oil automictically. You will also be able to see if the oil tank gets low on oil indicating a fill up. just curious about replacement blades for both 6" and 8" saws? Whats the difference between both saws? as opposed to why you might want 6" or 8"  cordless punning, size of branches Im assuming.
