Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cordless Miter Saw Review I was somewhat disappointed as it can’t do 45 deg cuts on a 2x4. Doesn’t cut all the way through the 2x4 when doing 45 deg cuts. It works fine if your just doing straight 90 deg cuts. I expect when I purchase a mitre saw capable of doing a 45 deg cut, that it can at the very least be used to cut 2x4’s. I’m not sure how it would work for cutting 2x6. Definitely couldn’t do a 45 deg cut on 2x6. Would possibly be better suited for cutting small mouldings? Not sure if there is a slightly larger blade that could improve the performance. The battery charge held for a few hours while making dozens of cuts, so I was happy with that part of its performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The little saw that could! I was really skeptical about this saw at first being Ryobi and battery powered but I bought it for the cottage for small to do projects up there due to having all Ryobi tools and the 18one+ yard tools up there. I replaced the blade with a higher quality 40 tooth blade before the first cut so I can't comment on the quality of the factory blade. I used the saw for a small project at home to test it out and I have to say it amazed me, light, quiet and very portable. It has its limitations due to the blade size but worth every penny if you already have Ryobi batteries or are looking for a light portable saw. I've been a die hard Ridgid or Milwaukee fan my whole life but this saw is swaying my opinion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another excellent Ryobi ONE+ tool This is another great tool in the Ryobi ONE+ family. I recently used this saw to cut plywood, PVC pipe and some narrow sticks of plastic for my most recent project. The saw is fabulous in that it's battery operated (no cord) yet still powerful and it comes with many features most look for in a saw. It's also easy to carry and store. This would be great for hobbyists, DIY-ers to (I'm guessing) moderate construction usage. I'm very pleased to have added this tool to my Ryobi ONE+ collection.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a precision tool Have had good experience with Ryobi hand held tools so was expecting this mitre saw to perform adequately, but was disappointed. Not a precision tool at all. The slightest side pressure causes deflection in the arm and your cut to wander. Tightening the locking mechanism causes the saw angle to change, almost popping it out of the detent. Barely serviceable for basic work. I guess just need to spend a bit more for quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great small saw I bought this great saw for small projects I always make. I bought it few months ago and so far is doing great. It is portable and small enough to move around easily. Its power is really enough for me and for that reason I bought 3 big batteries just in case I run out of power. I never ran out of power for the couple of projects I created. I'm so happy I bought this saw as an extra tool added to my tools collection.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Riobie Battery Saw small and light. handy for small jobs. the bed is very short - don't like getting my hands that close to the blade. kicks back a lot - very touchy and to my mind dangerous. we were cutting 3.5" HW flooring- bairley enough cut length to get through the whole piece - worse on the 45 degree cut. Recommend going with the next size battery saw by Riobie - the one with the slide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid chop saw Nice chop saw I've had for a few years now. You're going to want of these as a homeowner. Good safety features and lightweight. Very easy to use, even for a novice if you are intimidated. One thing I would consider if I were to purchase again is to upgrade to a larger sliding saw as it is more versatile in the cuts it can make despite the higher price point.

Can this be used without a battery (can I just plug into the wall)

Just bought this recently, and the saw will not cut through a 2×4 without the blade getting stuck. Is it potentially faulty? I only get through 1 3/4 of the board.

Asked by: Adam
I would suggest that your problem is one of three things. Either a) the battery is weak and is not powering the blade fully, b) you are 'pushing' the saw blade down too fast and it's binding, c) it's faulty in some way. Mine has worked fine cutting 2x4's.

Sometimes this saw jams on small pieces of wood and shatters it. It's quite the jolt. Not sure what the issue is. I haven't used it much so the blade is still good. Any ideas?

Asked by: MitchB
This happens when cutting smaill trim or dowels on any saw..use a small but longer piece of scrap wood behind the piece you are cutting.

What is the max crosscut width at 90 degrees? What is the max cut width at 45 degrees? Thanks.

Asked by: RetiredMountie
You can cut 2x4s right through but not 2x6s. At 90 degrees there is still another 1/2” of 2x6 left so you have to flip it over to finish the job. At 45 degrees you only get 60-70% of the way through.

Can this saw cut a 2x4 on 45 degree angle

Asked by: jpiz
Hi There, Thanks for reaching out to us regarding the 18V ONE+ Cordless 7-1/4-inch Compound Mitre Saw. With the Miter at 0° and Bevel at 45°, the maximum lumber size is 1-1/2 in. x 3-1/2 in. (or a 2x4). For further information, please contact RYOBI Customer Support at 1-800-525-2579. Thanks, RYOBI Canada Team.

I have a 18V One+ 1.5AH battery. Is that going to work with this tool?

Asked by: June
I use the 5AH batteries and they are just a little underpowered, so you will find that the saw will stall easily with the 1.5. but it still should work for you.
