Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phenominal I bought this a few days ago & have adapted a router table plate to mount this in my current workbench, which incidentally is a kitchen table I picked up out of the garbage . I used it to jointer a few pieces of 3/4 African Mahogany which was only finished 2 sides. In all I slimmed these 6 foot long pieces by about 1/4". This little puppy with the 4Ahr Lithium battery didn't even slow down one bit & I only used 1/4 of the batteries charge to do this. I am very impressed. Which I had come across this before I spent several $100's on another's router. PS, this little router turns at 29,000rpm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Router Great tool to have. I also have a router table with a strong corded router but find myself using this more often due to the portability and convenience. It has plenty of power and is easy to keep steady and level despite the small base plate. The on/off switch is in an awkward location making it hard to start with one hand. The base can drop down slightly once you start cutting despite being locked, resulting in a deeper cut than intended. Pushing down firmly on the base after its locked seems to prevent this from happening.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as expected Works as expected, the only issues I had was the unit is top heavy with a 4ah battery, and I hopefully I will be more comfortable using. The base is a bit small, looking to make a wider base plate to help make using it a bit more comfortable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not adequate. Never did use it. To small. I bought this tool because it's one of the few cordless routers out there and because it doesnt cost an arm and a leg. But before I bought it, I bought a couple of 3 quarter inch plywood router bits i was hoping to use on some 3 quarter inch red oak plywood I bought to put a nice edge on it. But it turns out the router takes only a quarter inch stem, or what ever it's called, but the router bits i got are half inch, so the router is to small. Result, the router is to small and is useless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Decent router for the money Used it to route some MDF for a couple of custom trim pieces. Worked great. Note: I did make a small router table for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good purchase, well worth the money. I've put in about 5 hours of actually running time on this router so far. It does use batteries fairly quickly, so you'll want to have at least two spares on hand. I've been very pleased with it, and would certainly buy one again. Easy to handle and great for those little trim jobs where the two handles router is much too cumbersome. I've been using it primarily on pine, giving some detail to the edges to use it as trim. A really great little tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ryobi tools in general I must admit although I bought this router, I have not had a chance to use it. But if it is like all my Ryobi tools I will be very happy with it. I have been buying Ryobi for almost 20 years. Just this past week my 18 year old Blue cordless circular saw just quit. All I have ever had to replace were the batteries. After building three decks, and 3 house renovations. I would not hesitate to buy another one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tool, slight improvements required. The router is great for the price point. It does the job well and has sufficient power for most trim routing applications. My only negative though about this is the handling of the tool, the grips are not in optimal locations and it is quite top heavy. The orientation of this device could use some improvements. With that being said, if you take your time, plan your motion and go slow it works very well.

Is the motor brushless as is stated in the specifications or brushed as mentioned in a Q&A response? Is it a tool-only option as the specifications state that it comes with a battery but according to a Q&A response, it does not. Update the spec section.

Asked by: MattWeiler
Hi Matt, This is tool only, it is a brushed motor as well. We apologize for the confusion on the specifications page and are working on amending that issue. Thanks, Ryobi Canada

Is the router meant to heat up? I just got this router and was using it for the first time to round over edge on MDF shelves (1/8" roundover). The area between the metal depth/base housing and the battery got very hot.

Asked by: mike0923
Hi Mike0923, With consistent prolonged use power tools will tend to heat up based on the contained brushed motor. This is normal and will not affect the tool. Thank you, Ryobi Canada Team

Does this come with a fence guide, or is the one available that will fit this router?

Asked by: Dug567
No! It does not come with a fence guide. If you do a search for a separate fence drive, you will see that there is one available. But, I have tried the stores, online......I've even contacted HD and Ryobi Canada and I have not been able to find the one listed. I'm pretty sure that a third party fence drive can be adapted for use. I have not needed one yet so I haven't really looked into it.

What amperage does this Router use.

Asked by: Steven
Hi Steven, We suggest our 18V 1.5 to 4.0Ah batteries for this product to help with weight ratios. using the smallest amp hour (Ah) battery will have less run time but will make this cordless tool lighter. We hope this information helps. Thanks for reaching out, RYOBI Canada.
