Stands upright on it's own, heats up quickly, doesn't drip much, feeds well, and cordless! None of those things were attributes of the glue gun I purchased about 20 years ago, and as a result I had given up on the concept as pretty much worthless. That said, hot-melt glue seemed like the perfect solution for a recent repair need. Since I already had some One+ batteries I decided to purchase this inexpensive P305, and was very pleased with the results. I've also rediscovered the availability of both quick-set (15 second) a.k.a. "All Purpose" and slow-set (3 minute) glue sticks, which makes this tool a lot more versatile than I expected.

I have been using a corded surebonder hot glue gun for years (i use it to hang my Christmas lights on my brick) this thing heats up and was ready to use in about one minute which i thought was great. the battery on the bottom really helps keeps this thing standing upright even if its windy outside. i cant comment on battery life but i have a ton of batteries so i'm not worried about it. the tip is great too. its a larger opening than than the surebonder which is great for what i use it for. awesome tool for my collection and it feels great to not drag extension cords all over my house when i'm hanging lights!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glue anything, anywhere! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'd previously been using a dinky, too small for your hand, cheap-o glue gun with a three foot cord. It was always a pain to use and very messy as the glue just kept coming out until it cooled off. The Ryobi Hot Glue Gun free'd me from the cord and I am now finding new applications for hot gluing things. It just takes a few minutes to warm up, has a nice, large, trigger for even squeezing, and might only let out a drop or two of glue when sitting at idle. My son and I glued sisal rope around a post for our cat, which took a while, and we didn't even need to change batteries. Get a big box of glue sticks, you'll find you're using it all over the place to tack things up.

If not for anything else, the simple fact that you can work cord-free is enough to own this gun. It fits great in the hand, the trigger pulls very nicely and the gun dispenses glue really nice. I like that it doesn't drip, and I like the amount of time it lasts on one charge. I've used it a lot since buying it, and I'm always looking or other chances to use it. It hangs over the bench, easy to get at, in a holder I made out of PVC. Always sitting there, ready to go!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best feature is the battery acts as a stand! Forget dealing with those terrible folding stands found on most glue guns, this one just stands on the battery making it super quick and easy to transition between use and set down. It's about average in the time it takes to heat up, and I haven't really pushed the boundaries of run time since I use it for very small glue ups so far. Overall the glue gun is very useful and easy to use, and best of all if you already have Ryobi cordless line its really affordable. Nice touch including 3 glue sticks as well, the ones I already had were the same thickness but a little shorter though they had no issues either. This uses the normal glue stick size, not the mini.

It heats up quickly and lasts for quite a while on a compact 1.3Ah battery. I've run mine for 30 minutes and still had power to spare. It can put out a tremendous amount of glue very quickly. It does drip quite a bit but I suppose there's not much that can be done about that. Being able to go anywhere with it and not worry about plugging in is a great feature. For some reason, Home Depot does not allow ordering this item online. You can only get them at your local store. Very strange that this limitation doesn't seem to affect other Ryobi tools.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great glue gun I just bought this glue gun today and used it on a project that I couldn’t have done without it. Not having a cord is one of the best features of this tool. I just put a battery in it that I already own and it got hot within a few minutes which was actually quite surprising. The glue gun came with 3 glue sticks which I used about one and a half of already. It accepts full size glue sticks. It has an on and off switch which was very easy to use and see the light when it was on. The trigger on this was very responsive and I used two fingers to squeeze it. The tip at the end of this was very precise and the flow rate was as much glue at one time as you would ever need it too. This is very stable sitting upright on a table with the battery inside of it. There wasn’t a thing I disliked about this glue gun. It absolutely met my expectations and is worth the slightly larger price tag. Please hit the thumbs up if this was helpful.

Likely the most used cordless tool in my house, this thing has been terrific. I use it in construction/renovation quickly marry two objects together prior to nailing/stapling. Where it gets the most significant use is by my wife who loves to craft. Most recently she made a valentines day "love machine" robot seen in the photo. She whipped this thing up in a couple hours thanks to this gun. We have both commented that it would be nice if the glue did not drip out of the gun while on, but this is an issue common to all hot glue guns. It does drain batteries quickly so I would either plan to have a rotation of multiple or use a larger capacity one for big projects. Keep a piece of paper/cardboard under the tip to catch the drips. After turning it on, give it a minute or two to get to operating temperature. I lightly squeeze the handle and when it start to ooze you are good to go.

I just purchased the Ryobi glue gun a couple of weeks ago and would like to know whether it's normal to have to feed a second glue stick into the feeder when the first one isn't even close to being used up? I was using the glue gun to glue a couple of small things and I turned it off. About 15 or 20 minutes later I turned it back on and waited for it to get hot and I kept squeezing the trigger and no glue came out. I thought it might perhaps be clogged with the old glue but when I fed another glue stick in, that seem to do the trick (although the original glue stick was only used for two or three little things). Is it normal to have to feed a second glue stick into the gun despite the first glue stick not even being close to half used?

It's normal, and the way that most glue guns work.

No. Its is high temp only. Very high temp. It melted the foam we tried to use it on. It does work well though.

sort of, it will turn off automatically when the battery is drained. it won't overheat due to the thermistor used to control its temperature.

Can't seem to find this at any store and no way to purchase on Ryobi Tools site. Is it discontinued?
Asked by: ArmyChief
Thanks for all the answers. I FINALLY found it at my local HD. Seems HD & Ryobi have a disconnect!!. They are NOT putting the glue guns on display with the other tools in the tool section. They don't even MENTION it on the banners there. I found it in the glue stick/gun section at the back of the store. I advised the manager it might benifit sales if they took ONE from the glue section and put it on display with all the OTHER tools. Then put a note that they are located in aisle/section . Thanks again
