Good idea just doesn't have enough power to compete with a low end industrial heat gun. Unfortunately the price doesn't match the output.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Love Ryobi, not this tool I have almost everyone of Ryobi's tools and this by far is the most disappointing. I returned it the following day. It has no power. I use heat guns for working on sprinkler lines and thought it would be great to have a battery powered one. Wrong!! Hardly blows any air. For my purpose useless.

Could I bend rigid pvc pipe ?

For electrical deck pvc pipe..
Asked by: Angerack
Hi, Angerack. I have this heat gun, plus conventional plug-in heat guns. If I can do it with a plug-in gun, I can usually do it with this Ryobi cordless. In general, In a battery test, I found I could easily get 6 one-minute cycles (1 minute on, 1 minute off) with a 3 AmpHour battery. So if you're able to bend pvc with a plug-in gun, using short-duration heat periods, you'll be fine. It will depend on your wall thickness and pipe diameter, in addition to the bend radius you're trying to achieve. Try it - and let us in the Ryobi community know how it goes!

I've been told by a few stores they were out when you website said they had them, then was told they would be in by the end of March, but still not there. Are you getting anymore in or should I start seeking another brand elsewhere?
Asked by: Michael
Hi, Michael! I'm an owner, not a Home Depot or Ryobi rep. I do like this heat gun, and its compatibility with the rest of my One+ tools! I know that for this unit, if you put it in your online cart and it returns an error or is out of stock, the Home Depot website gives you the option of receiving an email notification when it is back in stock. I have used this before with other Home Depot products I want, and it works well. Good luck - it's worth the wait!

Has anyone used this for shrinking RC aircraft coverings like Monokote? Is it too hot for such applications?
Asked by: DrewA
I'm an RC aircraft builder, and I have successfully used this for covering material, alongside or in-place of my Monokote-specific gun. So it's a great tool if you're taking something to the field for a quick repair! If you're covering a larger wing or more than a square foot, I would use a plug-in heat gun or heat iron, though, simply to ensure that I don't run out of battery mid-job.

Is there a temp dial. Hoping to get 420-510 degrees

Asked by: Kalil
Sorry - there is no temp dial. You control temperature with which focus-nozzles you use (2 included, or none at all), how far you hold the gun from the work, and how much you wave it around. But you're in the right neighborhood: 420-500 degrees is about what I am measuring with mine.

How much it can be heat? Is it enough to melt down plastic or lead on the pcb?

Asked by: NC
I tried to melt lead, which is around 650 degrees F. This heat gun wasn't quite enough - I needed a propane torch.
