Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wont go straight - impossible to cut 90 degree Like many other here I am also frustrated that this product wont cut straight: It tends to cut going left unless you correct by permanently turning the tool about 10-15 degrees to the right. Looks akward while cutting and the result is terrible. Why does the manufacturer not comment when there are so many identical complaints ? Hope this can be corrected in future model revisions. I dediced to go with the Ryobi system as their other tools are great and it is convenient to have one battery system for all. Disappointing to go with another brand for a jigsaw now. Lost receipt and cant return, will dispose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really great and versatile jigsaw Recently purchased this jigsaw and have nothing but good things to say so far! For one thing, I really like that this jigsaw has the blade saver technology that allows you to lower the base so that a different part of your blade is being used when the top of the blade begins to get dull. I also really like the variable speed and the cut speed settings. When set to the cut speed of 3, this jigsaw rips through wood super quickly but does make rough cuts, so is only really useful for cuts that wont be seen. You can work your way through the speed settings to find what speed is right for you. Personally, I found that speed 0 and 1 worked great for cutting my vinyl plank flooring. The blade this jigsaw comes with is great for cutting through osb and other wood materials, but I would definitely suggests buying a set of blades for cuts on more fine materials and definitely for metal cuts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this jigsaw This jigsaw has done everything I wanted to do with it perfectly. Cuts through Dricore with ease, 2x4s are not a problem for this saw. I personally don’t like using circular saws so this is a great cordless alternative when finishing a basement to cut all your framing. I was warned in some reviews about troubles finding replacement blades, and that nothing fits this jigsaw properly. This is not true. Any T shank replacement blades fit in fine, at least the Bosch ones I found at Home Depot Great purchase!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ryobi 18V+ cordless JigSaw I bought this saw in the summer of 2022, hoping it would complement all my other Ryobi products, which I love. It was the worst thing I ever purchased made by Ryobi. It will not hold a straight line or cut anything staright, no matter what I try. It has a blade guide to try and keep the blade in line, but to no avail. This is the worst product that Ryobi has, so far, as far as I am concerned. It does cut wood, no problem, just not in a straight line. If I could give it less than one star I would. I would not recommend this to anyone, but you can be the judge.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from bend cuts, runs out of power, i had this for almost a year, i dont think i ever got one straight cut, im using new blades, every time i cut, the blade bends by itself to the side, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot, depending on the material, i go slow, i dont rush, i had cheap saws before that cut better than this, also, the battery does not last more than 20 minutes, i didnt xpect much from this, but didnt think it would be this bad either,

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sturdy and Good Quality This is a welcome addition to all my other Ryobi One tools and works extremely well. Unfortunately, as many other reviewers have pointed out, it only comes with one blade. The Ryobi replacement blades are not carried by Home Depot in Canada nor does ryobi.ca sell them. Other brands of T-blades by DeWalt and Bosh also do not fit. This tool would be excellent if more blades were available.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Will not cut straight at all! I bought this unit and should have read the reviews and saved myself the troubles. I am in my 50's and recently completed building my log home. I have pretty good knowledge and experience of RYOBI tools as my entire home workshop is supplied with them. This jigsaw will not cut straight and constantly cuts to the left!! I am constantly having to give about 15 to 20 degrees correction to the right to get a straight cut!! Went back to my old corded Ryobi jigsaw to get straight cuts. Do not waste your money on this model please!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst tool experience I've ever had This thing cuts terribly. I think anyone giving this good reviews is a total newb and doesn't understand how a jig saw works. The cuts were all over the place. Couldn't hold a straight line no matter how slow or careful you are. It was always trying to pull to the left. The baseplate was visibly bent. The cut was never 90 degrees regardless if I tried to square it up. The cuts were wavy in the sense that the blade moves latterally as well. I could cut better with a hand saw and my eyes closed.

Can you use this to cut plywood

Asked by: Hltmom
Absolutely. Love the jig. Works well on plywood

Is this tool good for left handed people? I have a Ryobi jigsaw that I bought a couple of years ago, however, the button for continuous cutting is only on the one side of the saw, so as a left handed person, I can not use that feature. Has that changed?

Asked by: Janeb
No! The button is still located on the thumb side of a right handed person but the saw cuts very nicely.

I notice that the Ryobi wood blade doesn't sit perfectly straight/square to the base in the blade clamp, and the blade itself doesn't seem to be bent when I lie it on a flat surface. Is this normal? Straight cuts into lumber come out slightly curved.

Asked by: Andrew
Thanks, Ryobi Canada and Peter. I unintelligently threw out the packaging and the receipt the day I got the jigsaw, but I took it to a local Ryobi service centre, and the technician didn't see a problem. He noted that the blade has a bit of play in the blade clamp and pointed out that jigsaws are ideally for cutting thinner materials. He also suggested that I try turning the orbital action off. I'm also going to try a few different Ryobi blades. I'll get that 2 x 6 notched sooner or later! Hope this thread is helpful for other novices like me.

Are there any blades that you can easily buy in Canada for this saw? I want to pick one up however many of the review speak to not being able to get blades for it.

Asked by: Josh
I bought this saw today along with a 20 pack of ryobi all purpose saw blades and they fit. https://www.homedepot.ca/product/ryobi-all-purpose-jig-saw-blades-20-piece-/1001184021

Would you recommend this jigsaw for DIY cutting laminate countertop (for cabinetry)?

Asked by: Hamed
Although I didn't cut laminate per se, I did use mine to cut through some quite thick hardwood flooring (quite a bit actually) and as far as power was concerned, it got the job done quite nicely. So use the right blade and I can't see any reason why it wouldn't do fine with laminate.

Is this powerful enough to do curved cuts in 2 inch thick hard maple? Would I need a specific type of blade?

Asked by: Aredn
I think it shouldn't be a problem getting through. They make a blade specifically for hardwoods to make clean cuts that will work for you
