Yes its alittle bulky and alot heavier then your average puny ratcheting caulk gun, but the way this thing preforms and how it stops dispensing adhesive or sealant when trigger is released is like unbelievable. Seriously how did they get it to stop when you release the trigger is amazing, I've used so many different Caulking guns and they all will dispense alittle or sometimes alot! of caulk after you release the trigger. I had a huge job sealing the entire outside of a manufactured home with adhesive sealant, like 60 tubes this things is awesome and the battery life is like its running on a magic battery, I keep thinking to myself, "Is this battery ever going to run out?" It just keeps going.

Of all the Ryobi products I've purchased, this is the only regret I have never been able to get it to work at the speed I want and deliver the amount of caulk i want. I had high hopes for this but after using it on a few jobs and putting 3 or 4 tubes of caulk through it, the product just sits in my toolbox now. I went back to a manual caulk gun. It's heavy when you consider the gun, the tube, and the battery. I put the smallest battery available in it and it's 'okay' at best. I think that it would be a great adhesive gun--but if you're looking for a long even bead of caulking, use a good manual gun. I wouldn't tell someone not to buy it, in fact I'd give them mine... But I wouldn't suggest to a friend that they should go out and get one.

If your hand gets tired trying to squeeze the caulking gun trigger, this is for you! We were trying to caulk around some trench drain with a special sealer and it was so thick I just about broke the manual caulk gun. Well, the Ryobi took on the task and did a superb job. Even on the slow speed it put it out at a good rate. It is a bit cumbersome in tight spots, but works in 95% of the places we caulk. Great tool!

Parts discontinued? I don't understand why this tool is available to purchase brand new but when I search for certain parts they are not available. That makes no sense. As with any well used caulk gun eventually you'll get some tubes that leak and gunk up your plunger. The plunger parts #512830001 and #631286001 seem to be discontinued and not available anywhere even from Ryobi's website. Parts availability will strongly affect any review I write about a tool and whether I purchase that brand in the future.
Asked by: Trollrx
Just finished with customer service and there is not after market part or parts availability. The plunger is the piece that takes the wear and tear especially after cleaning. My gun leaked silicon and it is a bear to clean. My plastic plunger is nicked up and I wanted to replace it. NO PARTS, NO HELP, and I am really disappointed in Ryobi.

Does Ryobi make a 20 V power caulk gun

Asked by: Why
It makes an 18V caulk gun. Is that close enough to 20V?

i dont see any reason for it but i would like to know why so i can do bigger jobs .but i blow a hole in the tube every time
Asked by: richard
Because it's inherently defective. And the more you use it the worse it will get. Speaking from unfortunate experience.

Will Ryobi put a ladder hook and a mechanism to hold in place without having to climb down a 24', 30', 10', etc...

My machinist made adapters to accommodate Albion hooks, just need to stop auto drip/pullback to hang from ladder w/out tubes falling out

Does the gun back off pressure?

Asked by: tmare
I had no problem with it leaking. I don't know that it pulls it back after you let go of the trigger but it doesn't come oozing out like with some manual caulk guns.

caulk left on inside of gun

after using this it leaves a lot of caulk inside the gun. impossible to clean it all out. is this what others experience or should i exchange it? i cleaned it best i can but seems like after so long it'll become unusable.

I've had this same problem with a manual caulking gun, so it's not specifically a problem with this Ryobi gun. In my case, it was because a partially used tube wasn't sealed properly and the caulk cured inside the nozzle and tube. I cleaned it out of the nozzle (no easy job, either), but I found afterwards that the caulk had formed a plug, like a small hockey puck, inside the body of the tube. There was no way that was going to push out through the nozzle so, when I applied enough force (probably much less than the 300 lbs the Ryobi gun is capable of), the remaining uncured caulk could not go out the nozzle, so it squeezed past the back cap of the tube and gunked up my gun. Bear in mind... it takes considerable force to make the caulk squeeze past the back cap, because that thing is designed to NOT let the caulk get past it. But, something has to give and if the nozzle isn't clear either the tube or the back cap is going to give. It's that simple. In your case, you're trying to push too much caulk out too small an opening in too little time. Back off on the speed, since you can't adjust the pressure, and/or make the opening bigger. Bottom line, if it's easier for the caulk to come out the back than it is to go out the front, that's what it's going to do.
