Rated 3 out of 5 by from Save your money. I use a large selection of 18v tools from Ryobi on a daily basis with several different size batteries. Just purchased and used the 4ah HP batteries which lasted exactly as long in 2 tools (large fan and power inflator) as regular 4ah batteries. No difference in longevity or power. Save the 50 bucks and buy the regular 4ah batteries or spend the same amount and get a single 6ah HP.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HP batteries [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are great long lasting batteries for your brushless tools wether older or new HP series, will release extra boost to your tool with the extra set of contacts which helps you get those tough jobs done. Long lasting and 3 year warranty can’t go wrong with these 4ah batteries. In all my years with Ryobi ( back to blue tools) I’ve only had 1 6ah 18v battery fail under warranty, and with a quick phone call and email information I received a replacement battery quickly. I have over 48 batteries from 2ah to 9ah and 40v batteries from 3ah to 6ah and haven’t had any issues to date.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor charge and ultimate fail. All around bad! Sigh, seems like most things these days are poorly built, destined for the landfill. Ryobi certainly delivers on this front. Purchased the battery and charger new. I can testify that the battery does not hold a charge any longer than 15 minutes. And, that's with shutting and starting as you go. If it runs for more than a few minutes you're only going to get about 10 minutes of power. Even worse, the battery has now completely died after only four months of light use. It will not charge at all. What a waste of money. It's also unfortunate that these companies keep producing products that will ultimately end up in a landfill. That's where mine is about to go. I'm sticking with EGO products for battery powered along with my gas-powered machines. Bye bye Ryobi.

The tools had a lot more power using this than the 2A batteries that came with the sets. The batteries feel very solidly made and the power meter works very well. I like that the batteries are smart enough to protect their lifespan under a variety of conditions. My only gripe is that I don't expect to use the tools frequently and one battery would have been plenty, but a single battery cost more than a 2-pack. Not very environmentally friendly to corner people into buying more batteries than they need.

They are noticeably better than the ones it came with - they seem to last about 50% longer than the regular 18v 4 amp batteries, but fall well shy of the claimed '4x longer performance'. Between the two of these I can mow both my medium sized front and back yard without changing most of the time - but only just These do seem to run noticeably cooler than the original batteries, which is a plus and will likely improve their longevity.

Hey Ryobi...pls explain how this PBP2004 HP battery offers 30% better performance than a std. PBP2005 when both are rated at 4 ampere hours? An ampere-hour rating quantifies a battery's current delivery over time...and both batteries are rated the same!

Depending on what tool you are using them in. If it's the newer brushless stuff with the extra connector then yes. If not then no.

How long do these batteries hold their charge when not in use? I want to get several sets and have them ready without always being on charge. Can you charge them and set them on a rack and they will be ready to go?

Does an HP battery (compared to a non-HP battery of the same Ah) improve performance in any way when used on a non-HP tool? (As far as I can tell, non-HP tools are the brushed tools, and/or those without the additional electrical contacts.)

6 port charge only charges 1 at a time , same as all the other chargers..when plugging in 2nd battery, then looks like not working.
