Derek...I just read your review and wondered if you had tried the non-brushless Ryobi 3/8'' impact that has 220 ft lbs of torque vs. the 160 ft. lbs this brushless model puts out. Ryobi...why didn't you give the brushless model MORE ft. lbs of torque then the older brushed model ? But as for taking lug nuts off , we always grabbed one of our 1/2'' air impacts for taking lugs off , not our 3/8'' air impact. My 1/2'' air impact is an Ingersoll Rand with 500 ft lbs of torque and while it struggles at first before removing the lugs on my truck or van where as my Ryobi 1/2'' 18 volt impact with 300 ft lbs whips them off with no hesitation ! fyi...I do have the Ryobi 3/8'' impact but have never tried it on any of my lug nuts.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like the sleek design of this battery powered impact wrench. You must have one of these in your shop just for the Ryobi branding and logos. This wrench has four settings: 1, 2, 3, and A for automatic. In automatic mode this tool would not drive a 5/16 by 2-1/2" lag bolt into a 2 by 4, but on setting number 3 it works great. I was trying to find the instructions for the 4 settings, but they seem to be shown only on page 9 of the last foreign language section inside the back cover of the instructions. The work light mounted on the battery holder base is a nice feature.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A great product spoilt by the lack of torque :( A nice addition to my number of Ryobi tools that put up with daily use and abuse. Overall its a good little 3/8 impact with all the normal benefits of a smaller unit. BUT... the reason it isn't a 5 star review is the torque figure. We all know these claimed torque figures are the absolute maximum short burst and you should expect the reality to be a bit less BUT I expected this to be able to cope with a wheel nut, even if it needed a little help. It will not remove a 120N/M wheel nut, even with a fresh battery. My unit will remove a bolt that needs 100N/M break torque max, certainly not 160N/M. But for the general smaller stuff it's great.

I have found that putting a short extension helps as the shortness of the unit is both a blessing and a curse. Without the extension sometime the battery would get in the way.

So far its done well for placing hold-down anchors but it didn't have enough breaking power to break the lug-nuts on my truck. That didn't bother me to bad as I have other tools for that but still happy with the job this tool will do. The battery life seems to be pretty good as well.

I have been very happy with my other Ryobi cordless tools but this one is terrible. It max's out at 160 ft lbs of torque which is far too low for any type of auto projects. Needless to say, I was very disappointed with this purchase and will be returning it and purchasing another brand (which will be a pain, because I own a good supply of Ryobi batteries and chargers).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice tool but not what it's rated Was hoping with the brushless technology this would bring it up to par with some of the better offerings out there. It's rated at 160 ft/lbs but barely takes off lugs nuts off a UTV torqued to 80 ft/lbs. Tried on my Jeep with lugs torqued to 125 ft/lbs and didn't even come close. Obviously there is 1/2" impacts that are better for this but if it's rated at 160lbs I would expect it to come close. I've tried bolts at various ratings and it struggles at anything above 90 ft/lbs whereas I've seen both Milwaukee or even Ridgid have far less trouble. My main reason for purchasing was because I have pretty much 1/2 the Ryobi catalog and countless batteries but both the impacts I have from them leave some to be desired. Pretty surprised by most the ratings on this so far as people either aren't concerned about the TQ rating or aren't truly putting in to the test.

What is the torque ratting in both clockwise and counter clockwise directions please.

Tie tool does have a breakaway torque spike of about 35% it can break bots torqued to about 200-220 lbs per foot. Just watch the torque test channels review of this product it is decent for the money but the p262 is a powerhouse.

Will this new product have more power when a bigger battery is being used?

I've noticed that when I use a bigger battery like the 6 AH. It feels like more power.

No. The battery only supplies the juice the tool motor calls for. If you have a 6ah battery, it will supply the full power load needed to run the motor longer. Smaller ah batteries will start losing power quickly after using it.
