Rated 3 out of 5 by from It served it's purpose Like other reviews I read and saw on YouTube, the saw cuts off for no reason even with a newly charged battery. You have to take the battery out and reinsert to get it saw to start working again. Not sure if is an over heating thing or not? The metal blade worked great, the tile blade is okay but it would not be for a big tile job, only for small tile cuts and the the drywall/plastic blade cut just fine. It's a handy tool for just small projects, cuts or to get into places that are not easily accessed but I can't see using this tool only on a big project. The tool stopping all the time is very annoying which is another reason this it's only good for a small project.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wheel Guard Defect I am a Ryobi one+ fan with about 20 of the tools in their lineup. Today I bought their 3” Cut-off tool at Home Depot in Sherman Texas. The tool has an adjustable wheel guard that allows you to set depth of cut. However, the clamp holding the guard bottoms out before securely holding the guard in place - only light downward on the tool will move the guard. As you can see in the picture below I had to add the Copper wire spacer to keep the clamp from bottoming out and to firmly hold the wheel guard. It seems like this will be a nice tool but I can only give it a one star rating due to the safety aspect of the defect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from accurate, easy to use, portable I do a lot of metal work when working on my cars. In the past I have always used a hand held air powered cut off tool. When I saw this I had to try it and I haven't been disappointed. It is more accurate and easier to control than a hand held air cut off wheel and it is portable. The only drawback is if you are overly aggressive and try to push it too fast it will shut off and you have to remove the battery and reinsert in to get it started again. But if you are careful and slow down a little it works great. It's light and you can take it out in the field with you to cut fence or other metal that otherwise would have to be cut by hand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from cuts great This little saw cuts great. I needed to cut back floor tile that had been laid for many years. The included tile blade very easily cut the tile. Great straight lines. No chipping or breaking. Saw did shut off a couple times. Must have strained it. I took off battery then replaced battery back and it was ready ro go immediately. Its dusty, but i did not wet blade or tile. I cut dry and it cuts straight and easy. I got a dremmel blade for wood. I used it to cut wood countertop to fit a new oven. Saw cuts wood very easily. The only drawback are the 3 inch blades. But the smaller blades may help keep size of saw small enough to get into tight places. For me, i couldnt ask for anything better. Works like a charm.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Let the saw do the work This is a handy little saw. My first chance to try it out was on some scrap pieces of 1/2" wood, several times, the saw "stalled". The other day I needed to cut some paneling and decided to give it another go. I adjusted the blade to just cut through the paneling, as there was a furring strip behind it. The saw did great, never once bogging down or stalling. The lesson learned is to adjust the blade to the proper depth, allowing the blade to do the work with as much cutting surface as possible, and keep the RPMs up. I do with that the foot/depth-gauge had a nice straight surface that could be run along a cutting guide.

I was renovating my bathroom and needed to cut about 2 inches off a ceramic backsplash. I didn't want to risk chipping or cracking, but I also didn't want to spend a ton of money on a wet tile saw that I'd probably only use once. This cutoff tool was the perfect solution: reasonably-priced, able to perform the job at hand, and versatile enough for future projects. The tile blade cut right through the backsplash without any chipping, and now I have a great tool that can cut through wood, ceramics, metal, etc. A solid investment for any DIYer!

It does cut steel with one of the disks (with lots of sparks) and PVC pipe with another (relatively easily) but cutting tile with the third blade seems to be more difficult than we expected. However, my husband is thrilled to add this tool to his Ryobi arsenal and is already looking into buying additional blades.

I use this to cut plastic on occasion, but where it really helped me out was when we had a really bad storm and I had to replace several metal downspouts and gutters. I used this gem to cut the downspouts and gutters to length and it gave a quick clean cut every time. I used to cut sheet metal to make duct work for air conditioning systems and I sure wish I had this back then. The battery lasts forever. I prefer to use a 2ah battery with this to keep its already small size to a minimum. I love this cut off tool and it really is a workhorse.

Yes it can, but nothing more the 3/4”. You will need to buy a blade from Dremel and will have a 7/16 arbor, you should have one included (3/8,7/16) in your Ryobi cut off tool box

If you are comparing this to the 12V Milwaukee tool, then yes the Ryobi 18V will definitely give you more power and it will not tax the motor nearly as much as the 12V tool.

i have both the P423 grinder and the HP brushless cut off tool, and like both of them. the cut off tool is more of a precision cutting tool compared to the rough cuts i get with the grinder. if you are cutting smaller pieces [aluminum patio covers or porch railing] the cut off tool would be your better bet because it is easier to control than the grinder. i have not tried it on any steel

Corrugated boxes?

Cutting cardboard with an abrasive metal cut-off wheel can be done, but it creates stinky white smoke. I cut cardboard strapping corners to length for crating at work on our big metal abrasive wheel chop saw, and if I do enough of them it will smoke up the shop. The burnt smell from just cutting a couple of them (typical of my needs) even lingers for quite a while. It might work better with little or no smoke using one of the other two blades it comes with, but you would have to find that out for yourself.
