Has anyone tried this drill with a 6 inch ice auger? My P277 smoked the motor after a few holes in moderate ice thickness.

Make sure your using the correct settings, but this drill has no issues yet with cutting 8in holes in the ice like butter, havnt tested out how the batteries last in the cold yet (but 6-8 holes in the morning no prob)

Do you lose performance using this drill with the older 4ah battery? Are the extra terminals for the light or for something else?

The RYOBI ONE+18V High Performance (HP) batteries provide more power, more runtime, and run cooler compared to our standard lithium-ion batteries. Some of the 18V HP Brushless tools have an extra set of terminals, which allows them to communicate with the HP batteries to provide the best performance possible through heavier applications and protects against overloading and overheating.
