Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! Used it to cut down a dead 30 foot cedar tree in my back yard. I ran it with a 9Ah HP battery. It did amazing, cut through the tree like butter at full depth of the blade. By the time I was done cutting the branches off and getting the trunk into firewood lengths my battery still had 50% charge. I have seen some reviews online where this saw was keeping up with a similar sized gas version, it didnt disappoint. With many more trees on the property I am sure I will get more use out of it. I would say the only down side is it doesn't seem to use a common off the shelf chain, or none that I have found. I purchased a spare through HD just to have on hand though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly surprised and happy with my saw. Bought this primarily to cut up a silver birch that fell on our property and because I already have a large collection of Ryobi One+ tools and batteries. Buying the bundle with included 6Ah HP battery and charger is a no-brainer, since it was only $20 more. When used with an HP battery, this is a surprisingly good little machine. I've used it on the aforementioned silver birch which was 13.5" at the base as well as some honey locust limbs up to about 8" thick. Obviously the trunk of the birch had to be cut in two passes, but it handled this easily, otherwise. This was all wood on the ground. I've not yet used it for cutting limbs off of trees or felling any trees. It's fairly light and easy to use with a responsive trigger, so I can't imagine it having any problem with such a task. I'm not a tree felling guy - at least I don't have experience doing so, so I won't comment on suitability but with it's 12" bar and 11.25" depth of cut, I can't see it being useful for such work except for fairly small trees. It would not have been sufficient for that birch had it not already been on the ground. You do have to use an HP battery. I have several standard 4Ah Li-ion batteries and when used with those, it would frequently trigger the overload and the battery would have to be removed and re-inserted to start working again. With the included 6Ah HP battery and a 9Ah HP battery I already owned, it works flawlessly and never cut out on me, even in hard material like that aforementioned honey locust. The silver birch was fairly effortless to cut up with this saw. I cut up the entire tree as shown in the photo using the included 6Ah battery from fully charged. It was down to 1 bar at the end, but was still cutting about as well as when I started the job. This was about 1 hour of cutting on and off as I cleared material out of the way. It does seem to have trouble clearing the chips and the chip exhaust port would frequently fill up - at least with the birch. I didn't notice this with the honey locust. It may be due to moisture content, as the honey locust limbs have been down for a month or two, whereas the birch fell less than a week ago. This didn't really affect the cut, but did mean the chips started flying forwards off the top of the chain since they could no longer exit out of the port as designed. Note that the chain is a 1/4" pitch, which could be harder to find if/when you need to replace it - something to consider. Chain tensioning requires a flat screwdriver and removing/replacing the bar/chain required a 1/2" wrench. There is a compatible wrench included and carried on the saw, but a tool-less system like some of the other Ryobi saws would have been better. Those are the only real criticisms, though. For a home/occasional user, it's a pleasure to work with otherwise and if you're already invested in the One+ system it's a good addition to your tools and capabilities.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Try to get a replacenebt chain I bought this chain saw so I wouldn't have to carry extension cords up a ladder using an old Remington electric chain saw. Great power cutting, that's what I thought until I cut close to the ground and hit some stones. Now I am looking for a replacement chain. They tell you to phone Gardner in the States who are Wholesalers and they don't even list a 64 link chain. Yes the P2507 is a 12" 64 link chain saw. I guess I could get the chain sharpened but at what cost. Home depot sells the saw but not the replacement chain. Amazon doesn't have a 12" 64 link chain. It's the 64 links that makes it impossible to replace the chain. Eventually I will keep the battery but a chain saw with no chain is a piece of JUNK!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive little saw If you're like me you probably have the Ryobi hedge trimmer but sometimes something a little bigger needs to be cut and that's where this baby comes in! This saw is super quiet, super light and cuts pretty quickly. I had some cedar trees that needed to be pruned and some cut right down and this baby was the perfect solution. My wife loves it too! I wouldn't recommend this for the farm owner by any stretch but this is the perfect cutting tool for any homeowner. Don't hesitate to buy it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No replacement chain available DON'T BUY| This chain saw needs a 64 link chain. I bought it from home depot and ran into some stones. When I looked for a replacement chain I found that this model uses a 64 link chain. Almost impossible to find and OEM supplier was out of stock this year as it was last year. home depot does not sell a 64 link 12" chain saw chain just the 45 link which doesn't fit.

I only used 1.5 of them over 2 days of cutting fire wood that didn’t stop day or night. Used on land peeping for hunting season, everyone that touched it was very impressed, light, powerful and gets the job done! Do not underestimate this tool.

Not only branches but great for cutting 2x4s through to 2x10 and 6x6s. A back yard cutting power house .. much better than the comparable gas powered equipment I have had that never start easy when you need them

Can I purchase and use any 12 inch chain (ex Oregon) on this chainsaw OR must I use only the appropriate Ryobi part #?

I replaced the original chain with the ‘STIHL Oilomatic 71PM3-64' (for Stihl models MSA120 MSA140 MSA160 MSA200)’ from Amazon and that works fine, I couldn’t find a Ryobi one.
