Rated 1 out of 5 by from second one in two days In the last two days I have had to purchase two of the p261VN 1/2” impacts. The first one I ordered I fully charged the 4ah lithium 18v one battery which came with it, and put it into the impact and nothing. I returned the impact to Home Depot after having to drive to three different locations just to track one down, and now the second one I purchased is doing the same thing. Some times it works, some times it doesn’t. I have been a very long and faithful customer to ryobi. Every tool I own is ryobi and I have truly enjoyed every second while utilizing your brands, but this 1/2 impact is an embarrassment to my collection. Simply because it doesnt work.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For the longest time I used an air compressor with impact for a lot of DIY auto repairs. The constant refilling, waiting, and lack of mobiliy got annoying. I had a ton of Ryobi already so I bought the 1/2" Impact and thought to myself, why not. I the last month I have had it, I have put a 3" lift on my truck, changed out my other cars tierods, bearings, cv axels, struts, and shocks. All with on charge on a 3.0ah battery. I beat the heck out of this thing and it didn't stop. Plenty of power to remove wheels, ajustable sppeds make it easy to make sure you do not over torque. Overall amazing tool.

I have since used the impact on an extensive automotive repair that included removing tires, shocks, struts, and sway bar links. It was a 2004 Trailblazer and everything was rusted, so a liberal application of Liquid Wrench was used as well. The tool performed well and accomplished everything that I required. Contrary to popular belief, I find that 300 ft lbs generally handles most jobs that I do. Tri-beam LED's definitely aided in under body work in a garage with less than stellar lighting. I started with a fully charged battery, and still had 3 bars left on the indicator when I completed the work. It's not a Snap-On, but it's also not $600. I'd recommend this tool with no hesitation.

Bought this unit to rotate tire on a F-250, torque spec is 140 ft lb for wheels, at full charge this unit did just barely break loose 2 lug nuts before smelling like it was on fire, just me, got it for that because it stated 300 ft lb, and not really impressed or enthusiastic still have too break loose with breaker bar and use as a lite weight, does work on my cars though so just have to know its limits and use it for that i guess. Was hoping to use it primarily for 32 lug nut tire rotations on truck :// P261VN brand new With battery , charger, bag $139 on sale shipped to house. 10/20, soooo use it where it works..

I have one alright, That my son think it his too. Lol ,so i found this kit on sale at Home Depot. So i got it, Now my son has his own Ryobi 1/2 impact driver. I am a mechanic i swap out moters and transmission ouwith this 1/2 impact with no problem. Just a fyi. I also rotate my 20 inch tires on my Chevy 1/2 ton truck all the time. On one good battery i don't have, to swap out the battery . I have one 4 ah battery . I almost forgot. Be sure to get the ryobi warranty, and set up your warranty. They are truly a very helpful group of people. And they don't make you jump through hoops to get your warranty.

Anyone who's worked on suspension parts in a state that salts their roads during the winter knows how much of a pain fasteners can be. It's not called "rust weld" for nothing. Anyway, i used this to speed up the process and made removal and installation a dream. It's not the most powerful one out there but it's not meant to be, especially at the price. I recommend it to anyone on a budget. Just remember to register for the warranty.

I have full sets of winter and summer tires for all our vehicles and have used my compressor operated air tools for the change over. I had just started buying some of the other Ryobi tools using the 18 volt system and I bought the 1/2 in. impact gun to give it a try. I changed over all the tires in one afternoon. 3 vehicles later, 12 tires, 5 lug nuts to the tire, meaning 60 lugs nuts torqued off and 60 lug nuts torqued on and the 4ah hr battery was barely used. The nuts had been torqued on earlier in the year with my big air impact gun so I was really impressed how easily they came off with the Ryobi. I have since made up a travel kit for the impact wrench for days when the wife and I travel any distance figuring flats will be easier to change with the Ryobi.

Works great with included battery. Have had occasional issues with the 3 amp hr batteries working with it well. It acts like it has a short in the trigger with those smaller batteries attached. I keep the 4 amp battery charged and gets me through most of my projects and works great. I'm still happy with it. Takes my lug nuts off on my 1 ton Dodge. They are usually torqued to 140-145 ft lbs. Like the ability to use a lower speed for more delicate nuts. Great to have around for car repair and driving larger lag screws in lumber.

Yes, you can use regular sockets but be aware that this wrench can put high torque and significantly higher stress on the sockets that can possibly damage them Better to use impact sockets to be safe.

Why would someone need an Impact Wrench if they have an Impact Driver with wrench-bit attachments? Serious question for someone considering purchasing this tool. I'm not sure I need it.

The 1/4" is for screws or small jobs where the 1/2" impact is for removing lugnuts or heavier projects. The small one is great for small stuff but it can't tighten or loosen big jobs.
