I have had it for 6 months and tried to use it 5 times. Each one a bigger failure. Today was the 5th and last time I will use it. It runs for 30 seconds and shuts down. I restart and it does the same thing over and over again. Its a glorified shovel and a very expensive one at that. I read several reviews and most people are happy with theirs but I have not had a good experience since the first time I used it. I thought it was the weight of the snow and it turns out, it does not matter how heavy, light, wet or dry the snow is- it does not work. Very disappointed and cannot recommend.

The second one came in non prefect condition. As I'm a big Ryobi guy I was not ready to give up. So I picked the third one up from the store (less handling less risk of issues) Home Depot gave us a big enough discount to make up for the issues, that diffidently helped the situation. Then once had a chance to use it, the snowblower kept cutting out :( and it was maybe 2" of snow. Here again being a big Ryobi guy I was still not ready to give up! So after lots of research I came to the conclusion that the batteries should be stored at room temperature for it to work as its suppose to. So far that has made the world of difference. So in conclusion if your not a dedicate Ryobi guy like I am, I would look to another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Little Snowblower The perfect snowblower for a lady who has never used one. It does everything that I need. I am very happy with my purchase!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It has zero power compared to what they state. It... It has zero power compared to what they state. It state it is able to shoot snow 25 feet where it barely pushed it about 1 foot. I was sadly disappointed therefore returning it. The auger is made out of 100% plastic. I could go on and on though no need to go further.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent for powder and smaller driveways I bought this because we already have the 40V lawnmower and love it. The snowblower has not disappointed. It is great for powder and light snow. I was concerned about throwing distance, because on one side of our driveway there is just a 1-foot strip of grass and then the neighbour's driveway, so we have to throw all the snow to one side. As long as there is at least 3-4 inches, it easily blows it all the way across. (with less depth of snow, it does not throw it as far). It also is able to handle the crud left by the city plow at the end of the driveway, as long as it is not too wet or too compacted. For battery life, I was able to do our driveway (single width plus walkway alongside, 2.5 car lengths) plus a small patio twice during a major storm on a single charge. My only quibble is, unlike the mower, which runs full power and then stops when the charge is too low, the snowblower will perform noticeably more poorly when it's down to 1 bar. It does not handle wet or heavy snow. The first time I used it, we had a mix of snow, freezing rain, and ice pellets, leaving a stratified snowpack with alternating layers of snow and ice. It struggled to break up the ice layer (but my neighbour with his 2-stage gas machine was also having trouble). I also appreciate its light weight. It is easy to carry up 2 steps from the driveway to the patio. Unfortunately to fold it for storage you have to remove the chute control lever, so usually we leave it assembled and use a 2-person carry to get it back and forth from our furnace room. If your snow is usually light and powdery, and your driveway is not huge, this is the perfect machine. If your snow is usually wet and heavy, or you have a lot of pavement to clear, get something more powerful.

If it meant for a light to medium snow then why not use a quick shovel? Can you let me know the goodness of this electric blower?

Asked by: Ryobi Fan
Hi Ryobi Fan, The recommended depth to remove is 10". But it works great for driveways and sidewalks. Thanks for your interest! Ryobi Canada

I just bought this yesterday and assembled it but can not get the chute to move with the lever. The chute will move manually but not with lever. When we tried the lever heard clicking/grinding noise and stopped.

Asked by: Troy67
Hi Troy, The chute should move with the lever. Please double check instruction manual for proper assembly and if the problem persists return this unit to yuor local Home Depot. Thank you, Ryobi Canada.

Is the blade plastic, or metal?

Asked by: Cameron
Plastic. The machine is nice because its light and small. Its comfortable to use in a small home with a small driveway or condominium complex. It's very quiet and great for petite person use. Do not expect the power and speed of a gas powered unit. Its perfect for it's intended purpose. Reliable, I use the batteries I have from other units as well, such as the lawnmower, hedge trimmer and weed wacker. All batteries have been perfectly interchangeable.

My newly bought blower discharges snow to about 1 meter far. The battery was 100% charged, the snow was about 10 cm and dry. I tried my lawn mower's battery that was 100% charged, and same blowing distance. Please help?

I bought this snow blower online through Home Depot. However, it seems to be missing the pins that hold the handle in place. How do I get the missing parts? Already emailed Home Depot, waiting for a response.

1. What is the rating for charger 2. How long  does it take to charge the battery 3. Size of driveway that can be cleared before recharge is required 4. What is meant bt medium duty?

Asked by: Paul S
Hi Paul S, I am not sure what do you mean by charger rating and where do you see bt medium duty. In regards battery time, depends of the type of snow (fluffy, hard etc..) and how thick it is.
