Rated 1 out of 5 by from Low deck, mower turns off, and faulty battery The mower deck does not rise high enough to cut at a proper length. The lowest setting cuts into the dirt and the longest setting cuts where my old lawnmowers lowest setting did. The mower has multiple safety switches that need to be pressed when running. one of the is on the deck behind the base of the handle. The handle has enough wiggle in it that the mower moves off the enough for the mower to turn off. I corrected this with a few zip ties, but I shouldn't have to zip tie the mower to make it run. From the day I got the mower I could only get about 30 minutes at most out of the battery. I have thicker grass, so I thought this was why. I was disappointed but accepted it. Last year the charger died so I bought a refurbished blower with a changer and 2.6 AH battery. This is when I noticed the 2.6 AH battery was lasting longer than the 5 AH battery. I decided that I need to call to get the battery replaced with the warranty. I didn't think there was much of a hurry because there is a 5-year warranty. I just call and they cannot do anything because the battery is 2 months out of warranty. I explained the whole situation and how the battery was unknowingly defective since I bought it but they didn't care. I even asked if they can only replace the charger since it is cheaper than the battery and the battery still have a little use, but they of course said no. Do NOT purchase this. The mower is a subpar mower at best, and they hide critical information in small print of the warranty. That warranty information should clearly state 5 years on mower and 3 years on battery. I guess they make more money deceiving people. They did correct this in the current product and that tells me they have had many issues likely this in the past.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible! Shame on you! I used to be a ryobi user. but after this mower i have switched to brand name products. I was talked into this mower by a ryobi rep who happened to be in the store when I was there. I have a very small lawn, about 600 square feet. Last year it started stalling out constantly, this year it will not start. it will give no more than 2 spins of the blade and stop. I have always stored this machine in my basement it has never been cold let alone wet! Battery is Good Charger is good. Mower is Bad. This is the first cordless device I have ever bought that did not outlive the Battery!!!!! Dont walk away from ryobi run!!! there will be another brand getting my money from now on. Shame on you ryobi

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product Overview lies Ryobi brags that all their batteries work with all of their 40 v products. . Be aware, very aware that this is a lie by Home Depot . The new 7.5 amp 40-volt battery does not fit this mower - even thought this mower is only 1-year on the market, Ryobi intentionally designed it not to work with the newest batteries and accessories. . I just purchased (at full price) the model 40108, less then 6-months ago and found that the brand new, better power battery does not fit with this design. . Very poor design

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product This mower gets the job done. I like that I don't have to run out for gas every time I need to cut the grass. Just put the battery in and off you go. It's so much easier to start with just a push button and to having to strain my arm from pulling a starter. I truly recommend this as you with never have to stress about having to prepare the mower for the next season.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from HORRIBLE SUPPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, I bought this mover last June and it worked amazingly. Mower did a great job and the battery was enough to finish my front lawn (much larger) and my rear lawn and still had enough charge to do the front one more time. More than satisfied with that performance. This spring was a different story. After using it 4 times, the charge in the battery is not enough to do both the front and the backyard. Gave it 4 attempts to ensure the lawn length was not the issue. So I decided to call Ryobi support. I explained my issue and they asked me how long of a mow I was able to do in minutes. I tried to explain how much lawn I was able to complete but they still insisted on my estimate in minutes. I have never timed myself so I threw out a number. They refused to replaced the battery despite the fact that I was down on charge roughly 30-40% based on the size of my total lawn. The rep kept repeating the same scripted answer despite my disappointment and frustration. When I got frustrated I forcefully asked to speak to a manager. She said she would drop the call if I yelled at her. I was not yelling. She then went on to keep repeating that he manager would not replace the battery. I repeated that I wanted to speak to the manager (3rd time) and she hung up on me. I am seriously upset. Not only did I spend almost $400 on the mower, but I also bought the blower, trimmer and battery combo for $300. What am I supposed to do now????? Despite the fact that the products I purchased work well, I cannot recommend this product based on the service I received from Ryobi. I even reversed my suggestion to a neighbor who wanted to buy the mower. I cannot give support a company that provides such horrible support. DON'T DO IT!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from “Low-energy”. And not only in a good way. If you’re used to the power of a gas mower, you’ll be v... “Low-energy”. And not only in a good way. If you’re used to the power of a gas mower, you’ll be very disappointed in this. It does not have the power to pick up and mulch even small debris. With a gas mower, I would be mowing well into late fall to mulch and bag the leaves. I’ll be doing a lot more raking this year. Also, it does not cut long grass well. My lawn is growing very well this year, so I have to make two passes - one on the highest setting, then a lower one, going in the opposite direction. And it still leaves shaggy areas. On the positive side, it’s light (mostly plastic) and maneuverable, even up hills. Battery life is pretty good, at least with a new battery. One small annoyance is the overhang in the front - the front of the mower is several inches ahead of the blade, so you can’t get close to things from the front. Overall, you would need to consider how much power you could live without, and whether the green glow you get from having an electric mower is worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressed But... I bought this lawn mower a year ago, used it all last summer and so far this Spring.I have a large front yard that I can cut on one charge and cut the side and back yard on another charge.Mower cuts great, light, easy to maneuver, etc.Height adjustment is easy, one lever adjusts all wheels. My suggestions to Ryobi are to eliminate so much front overhang, can't cut close to anything unless you cut with the side of the mower.Should come with two batteries, and the worst feature of the mower the plastic clips that hold the handle in the extended position and the push buttons to fold the handle. Those areas need a redesign!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Extremely disappointed We have had the lawn mower for around 3 years. It has worked great until now. We are unable to charge the battery and spent hours searching for a solution. Unfortunately, we cannot find any 40V replacement batteries in Canada for the lawn mower, rendering it useless. We have been a loyal Ryobi client purchasing several of their products so we find this frustrating and disappointing. We will be looking at gas mowers now unless a 5ah or higher 40V battery can be found quickly.

For lawn mower model RY40180: how long is the warranty for the included battery and charger?

Asked by: chet
According to the Ryobi documentation on warranty information available on the Home Depot site, it states that the warranty is 5 years for the entire unit, if used for non commercial use. No where in the documentation did I see an exception for batteries. Ryobi can you please clarify where in the documentation it states that the battery has a 3 year warranty.

Regarding the Ryobi 20 in. 40-Volt Cordless Push Mower RY40180, what is the battery run time on a fully charged battery. I have an irregular shaped lot and I don't know the square footage, but I know how long it takes me to cut my grass

Hi Lemonaid, We cannot give an exact time on how long the mower will run due to external factors however under normal conditions our mower is rated for 1/2 acre or 21780 sq ft. Thank you, Ryobi Canada Team
