Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent machine [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I took delivery of my new mower about one month ago. My lawn needs mowing several times a week during the summer month. I also purchased the bagging attachment. I have now mowed 8 times and my lawn has never looked so good. The cutting speed has produced a perfect cut. I have about a quarter acre of lawn. It used to take an hour with my walk behind mower. I now can finish in less than 30 mins and clear of clippings. The mower is quiet and fast. I have several sloping areas and the mower climbs them with no problem. Excellent quality machine. I am very pleased with the power and performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mower! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this mower about a month ago for my yard (just over 1/3 acre). It used to take me 2-1/2 hours to mow/edge the yard with my old push mower, it now takes me just over an hour with this! (and no more gas!) The mower is quick and easy to maneuver, gives a comfortable ride, and is VERY quiet. True Story: I ran out to the store last week on an errand, and when I returned I hopped on to do a little mowing without going into the house. After about 20 mins my wife called me on the phone to find out where I was. I had mowed almost half my lawn and she didn't even know I was home! Excellent purchase!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Battery Life [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the mower 06/21 and was all excited. Bought the bagger kit and it was fun to drive and mow with. The first months left of the year it was fantastic, battery gauge only went down 1-2 bars. Stored in a climate controlled shop plugged in all winter. This spring stated mowing great, now after owning it for 14 months the battery life is dying. Mows for about 30 min then the gauge bars drop down and mower stops. Have to charge for 1.5 -2 hours just to finish up the last 30 min of mowing. Any recommended battery replacement that will last over 12-14 months? Any help appreciated

It was very easy to assemble, found the direction very easy to follow. they were plan and simple. (I'm a 76 years old woman) for making something even woman can put together and USE. I had it all together, got it charged up, stared it up and away I went. Have fairly large yard got it mowed In over an an hour and still had plenty of charge left. It was a pure pleasure to have, don't have to depend on someone to mow. It met my expectations and more. Had it over a week. No dislikes. Wonderful machine Thank You Ryobi for making a machine even a woman can use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Beware of the battery [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] purchased first of November 2021. Used throughout the 2022 season with satisfactory results. Now in 2023 battery is failing. The unit will show a full charge and will cut grass only about 15 minutes. I come from the submarine community and was qualified as battery charging electrician and I am sure this battery has a failing cell. voltage reads good under no load but when power is drawn the volyage falls at a staggering rate. I have the protection plan but it is so time consuming to file makes me wonder if it is really worth it. Really disappointed in the life of the battery.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great mower and quiet ride [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was my first riding mower and I didn't want to deal with taking care of an engine. Online reviews were very helpful. Buying the smaller version for 1/2 acre it initially took me an hour to more, but have reduced it down to 40 minutes. The battery never goes below 50%. In the fall I use it every other day to remove leaves with the bagger and it is excellent. Only draw backs would be that it is rough over uneven ground and the tires pick up sand and dirt easily. I hose it off when done and use a leaf blower to clean it off when finished. I am able to use ear buds to listen to music or podcasts which wasn't possible with a gas engine.

I was completely fed-up with dealing with oil, broken belts and I can safely say that I have no regrets. This lawnmower is fantastic. No more major maintenance with engine and moving parts, belts, etc - which was always such a pain to maintain a gas-powered riding lawn mower. This mower does a fantastic job, great power to pull the grass up for a clean cut. This mower does have the power too. I live in a subdivision with a small-to-medium yard (little over half an acre), and I can mow my entire yard twice before it needs a charge. The deck size is also just right to get around tight areas and landscaping. Highly recommend, will never go back to gas-powered lawn equipment ever again.

We went back and forth between electric and gas and finally settle on electric due to the lack of maintenance and fuel issues furring storage. This mower set for about 3 months on its charger during the winter and when time came to mower just turned the key and went. We have about .50 acres and this mower does just fine on a single charge. It’s comfortable and super easy to use. The double bag system which is separate is a fantastic addition. Cut evenly and sharp. Height adjustments are real easy. Only reason for a 4 star and not a 5 is that sharp tight turns the wheel whips a bit which might just be user experience and it does not like steep hills. Wants to lean backwards and lift the front tires. Other than that I love it. Would definitely recommend.

The 30" 50 Ah was out of stock for several weeks on-line. Evidently more have become available as shipments from overseas begin to arrive with more regularity. I went ahead and paid full price so I can use it this season. If it goes on sale soon thereafter, perhaps I can get a refund for the difference from HD. In any event, having bought and returned one of the poorly designed 42E Cub Cadet models last month (will not cut higher than 3") I am happy to get this one at nearly half the price. Like the the idea of a smaller, simpler design for my lawn areas. I can borrow a full-size tractor and box blade for my pastures.

inaccurate battery level indicator?? got this yesterday, charged it fully, then did the first mow today. i went from .46 runtime to 1.55 runtime, but didn't lose a single bar on the charge, according to the battery level indicator. sorry, but i'm having a hard time believing this, so i'm wondering if my indicator is faulty?? also, i plugged it back up after mowing, and it's been charging for over 2 hours, so the batteries have depleted. i'm really happy with this mower and the runtime, but i'm not too thrilled with this issue. anyone else having this experience?? thanks! john c.

John, thank you for your interest in the RYOBI 48V Brushless 30 in. 50 Ah Battery Electric Rear Engine Riding Mower. The charger will charge until the batteries are fully charged and then it should turn off until there is more charge needed. It is possible that even though the indicator did not drop a bar the batteries need some charge. It could take sometime to charge these batteries as they may be hot from working outdoors. They must cool off before the charger will start the charge. Thank you for asking, If you have further questions and would like to speak with a RYOBI Customer Experience Professional, please call, 1-800-525-2579 M-F from 9am-6pm EST. Hope this helps! - Vini

What is the width of the wheel base, not including the chute?

I do not see anything listed in supporting documentation and apparently the other question that was asked on the subject was to complicated. I have a rather narrow gate, and am not concerned about the chute, just the width of the wheel base. Which cannot be 56"...

They have a video showing the width gate that the mower will fit.

I am a bit worried abt the potential for large current draws running thru the motors and wiring in this model. So, does it have an overload breaker or main fuse ? If so, at what rated current in amps do they blow ? Once running with blades engaged while mowing fairly flat grnd, what is the continuous current draw in amps ?
Asked by: RA
The mower has multiple controllers on board. Each motor has its own controller/processor. There is also a voltage controller on board. The batteries and wiring harness are protected by a 100 amp. master fuse. Amperage draw is dependent on mowing speed, cutting load. And terrain. The electronics will shut things down before damage can occur.

I bought my RM480e three years ago. In that time period, the price has gone up three times. The first time was due to tariff increases. The last two were during the pandemic, which has led to almost everything rising in price or not being available altogether.

Is it really necessary to keep the charger plugged in all the time when you're not using the RM300E (30-inch model)? The manual says so, but I wonder if that's just meant to prolong battery life. My storage space is tight, and I would have to drape the charging cord across the floor where someone could trip over it. Also, I'm leery of leaving something electrical connected all the time in my garage because of the possible fire hazard. Has anyone tried just charging the mower when you need to use it? If so, did the battery last a reasonable time?
Asked by: Subverb
Thanks once more, Jamis, for your answers and for your patience. It's good to know that the maintenance charge becomes particularly important if you don't use the mower for a while. It's also good to know that the charger pulls electricity only when it's needed. That eases my mind a bit about the fire hazard. Like you, I've learned to be more aware about batteries and chargers with cordless tools. The world is becoming wired, and I'm slowly catching on.
