Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great so far We bought this to power a 28 foot RV, specifically the air conditioner. It works extremely well. It's a bit loud, but runs great. Ran it 4 days straight in 30+ degrees heat, no problems whatsoever.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from BUYER BEWARE!!!! The first one I bought lasted all of a week before mysteriously not wanting to start. Finally, after exchanging it, I thought things were good.... Until 3 weeks later when the generator suddenly lost all power in mid-operation. After a long tune-up and full rebuild, I was unsuccessful at getting it running again. I am now on my THIRD generator and seriously regret having bought this one. It's a cheap piece of garbage as far as I'm concerned, and the service level you receive at Ryobi is anything but impressive. You get bounced around like a tennis ball and Ryobi doesn't seem to know what they're doing with it since this generator is that new. When trying to get support from Ryobi, all you get is the runaround, unless you're willing to pay more than twice what the parts (such as the air filter) are worth for the shipping in addition to the part itself. The generator itself works great for the first while, until it just up and dies either by loosing power, or by mysteriously not starting after it has been stopped. Do yourself a favour and STEER CLEAR OF THIS PRODUCT!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from pretty good deal Bought this on the second day of a 30-hour power outage. It started without any problems and ran reliably for the seven or so hours we required it. Saved the contents of our freezer and powered our on-demand water heater as well as carrying two fridges and charging cell phones. Good price, good performance. On the negative side, draining the fuel tank after shutdown is NOT easy. Instructions fail to mention that you have to turn the fuel switch ON in order to push it through the generator casing, then turn it off prior to removing the fuel line from the pitcock. Which, by the way, is also NOT easy. Pliers are required to open the clip and the line is not easy to slide off the pitcock. The drain screw on the carb was extremely difficult to access with a normal length screwdriver (frame interferes) and, in our case, impossible to loosen. While attempting to do so, I tipped the machine on end and that seemed to drain the carb. Also, a minor quibble, the left front foot is difficult to attach due to the motor mount. A bit more thought in the design would have been helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Performer at a GREAT price I bought this unit 2 days into the ice storm that hit the GTA this Christmas. I wanted to power the fridge, freezer, Kuerig, charge laptops and cell phones, and run a few lights throughout the house. This little unit did all that without breaking a sweat! It started immediately - and ran flawlessly for the next 40+ hours until our power came back on. It never faltered, not even a hiccup as additional load was added. The 4 gallon tank was giving us 10+ hours run time. I agree with the other reviewer in that it is clearly designed to be rolled over smooth surfaces - it does not have high ground clearance for pulling across a meadow! But it is PERFECT as a back-up plan for any home, and the wheels work well for rolling it around the garage/shed/house and maneuvering it up or down stairs as needed. This generator would also have easily run my furnace fan - and had the outage continued I would have cut the furnace hardwire, installed a plug - and plugged it into the generator! So for $350 I can run the fridge (700w), Freezer (700w), Furnace (600 watts) - and STILL have 1500 watts capacity for lights, phone chargers, coffee, heck - even the TV! And remember the fridge and freezer do not need to run continuously - so there is even more capacity available when they are cycled off. This is a Great little generator - highly, highly recommended!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not really portable. I purchased this generator for use in construction projects around camp (a walk-in cabin). I was drawn to the the vertical handle configuration, which I thought would make rolling it from site to site much easier on the back than other models which force you to lean over. I was also drawn to the overall positive reviews. Because portability was a major consideration for my application, I was very disappointed once I'd assembled the wheel kit to discover that the wheels barely provide an inch clearance above ground level. Any irregularity in the surface, and the horizontal cross-member between the wheels drags on the ground. Essentially, this unit is only truly portable on pavement or concrete. Had this cross member been situated a few inches forward from the wheels, it would lift as you tilt the unit, but it is located directly between the wheels, so no amount of tilting alleviates this problem. If you are looking for portability in locations away from civilization, I would certainly look elsewhere. That said, once dragged to location, the unit performed almost flawlessly. Once I had disconnected the gas line to alleviate an initial vapour lock, it started on first pull and continued to do so throughout the first summer's use. It handled a 14 amp circular saw and other tools with no problem at all - a slight snort when firing up the saw, and then back up to full rpm's right away. You will find lots of reviews which will detail the features and longevity of this generator, so I won't repeat them here. Essentially, it's a solid little generator that needs a re-design on its wheel kit. If it weren't for the portability issue, I'd give it 5 stars.
