Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect ride-on for my yard After almost two months, the Ryobi has worked perfectly. Was delivered to my home on a steel pallet. Took my time to dissasemble the pallet and added the few pieces not already attatched to the tractor. Directions were clear and concise. After one mow, I removed the grass shute {to reduce the overall width} and added the mulching cover to the mowing deck. Cuts great, took a few mows to figure out the reverse cutting. Expensive initially but I am hoping over the long term, it will be cost saving. Only additional ajustment I have to make is the rider pressure safety switch on the seat; my wife is not heavy enough to aloow her to operate :)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Extremely frustrating experience!! I bought a Ryobi electric riding mower in the spring. After eight weeks it just stopped running! The blades would turn but the mower wouldn't move forward or in reverse. I talked to Home Depot staff who directed me to the local warranty shop who had never dealt with the mower before. They had no idea how to fix it but ordered a wide range of potential parts just to make sure they could fix it. Six weeks later and $300 of bills from a landscaping company who is cutting my lawn once a week I still see no timeline for getting this mower fixed!! I would certainly not recommend this mower after my experience!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Defective battery and no support to have it fixed One year in and the battery will not hold a charge. I get about 15 minutes out of the mower before it won’t run anymore. I have tried calling Home Depot, who had me call Ryobi who had me call a repair shop that never seems to answer the phone or return calls. Now I am stuck with a mower I can’t use for more than 15 minutes at a time and no one will take responsibility for the repair. I do not recommend anyone purchase this mower.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY a RYOBI RIDING MOWER! Since new, I stored this mower in a garage and was meticulous about plugging it in when not in use. After 15 months, it wouldn't power up. I removed the batteries, manually charged them, and still nothing. I load tested the batteries and they were good. Ryobi Canada and Home Depot were zero help. Although under warranty, the closest authorized service centre is in Barrie, Ontario (I'm in North Bay). Home Depot should be ashamed of themselves for not disclosing that there is no available service within 400+ kms! Waste of $4000.00!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally. A great electric riding mower! I was waiting until I had used the mower several times, over a period of months to write this review. I can now say that I am impressed by the machine. It holds a sufficient charge to cut all the grass on my 1 acre lot, front and back, and it does a great job of cutting. It can get bogged down by tall grass, so you just have to raise the cutting deck if you're mowing a lawn that hasn't been cut in a long while, but this is recommended anyhow, as you're never supposed to cut off more than 1/3 of the full length of grass at a time anyhow. The cruise control is a very nice feature, which means you're basically just steering the thing around while it cuts the grass. The reverse blade override is also a nice feature, as it allows the blades to continue cutting while you're in reverse. The machine has plenty of torque, being electric, so you can probably attach a small trailer and haul things around your yard, too. It's so easy to use that my girlfriend has taken to mowing with it, and now she's mowing with it while I do the weed trimming--(we also have the 40v weed trimmer, the 40v 20 inch push mower, and 40v chainsaw, all great Ryobi tools! I highly recommend them, too!) If you're looking for an electric lawn tractor, this is the best that's out there right now. Highly recommended!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap Batteries, only last 1 summer. I bought this mower last year and was great with a 2 hour runtime. I stored the mower in a heated garage and did what the instructions said, keep the unit plugged in. This year the run time started at 45min and quickly dropped to 20. The mower needs new batteries already. The ones shipped with the produce are cheap. Expect to shell out $800 a year unless you go with lithium, which I did and build my own pack. Run time is now 4 hours. I would not recommend this for people who are not handy, wait until these come with Lithium battery packs, and spend the extra money on the battery. Obviously Ryobi had to his a certain price point or people wouldn't buy them to start off. You will also have to replace the pins that mount the deck constantly. Still does cut very well and I love the quiet electric operation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent. Simply excellent I did a lot of research before I purchased this tractor. I replaced a 2014 lawn tractor with this unit. I have about 1.5 acres of lawn to cut. It has no issues going up and down hills (even in wet conditions), unlike my previous tractor. It has a great turning radius. I still have over 50% battery after cutting all the lawn. Yes, it is more bumpy than my previous gas tractor but that is the only downside. Everything else is better! Definitely most definitely recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far so go This mower gives no toxic/carcinogenic fumes, feels like fresh air ride after using and parking it in a small tight shed. A Lot let noise then gasoline mower, no ear protection as under 80db. The battery gauge has not mowed after 1:15 hr of mowing my 1 acre of grass on 2 acre lot. Nice cut and solid built steering. Requires constant power for charging when not in use and maintaining charge. No oil changes or breathing toxic fumes when refilling or transporting gasoline. So far so good. Good power. Little rough ride if going fast.

Does the RYOBI 38" 75Ah riding lawn mower come with a mulch kit?

Asked by: John
Hi -John, Thanks for reaching out to us. The 38-inch 75 Ah Riding Mower comes with a side discharge that can be removed to help mulch debris. However, we do sell separate mulching blades and a rear bagging system for this mower to take mulching to the next level. To review all accessories available please visit the following.https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/categories/outdoors/outdoor-power-equipment/f/lz8-irt. Thanks, RYOBI Canada Team.

hiI live in Canada and my garage is not heated. Is ir easy to take out the batteries to store inside over the winter? can they be stored in an unheated garage on a trickle charger? thanks

Asked by: Douggiep
Great question. The mower needs to be charged continuously. The batteries are not easy to remove (they are pulled out from the back). If you are keeping the mower in the garage, you need to keep it plugged in.

I have a ditch in my back yard. Only about a 3 foot drop, and it's steep, but slope is gradual enough for me to mow with my Gas Ride On, but will the Ryobi have enough power to get up it?

Asked by: Durabull
Hi Durabull, Thanks for reaching out to us. Our 38-inch 75 Ah Electric Rear Engine Riding Lawn Mower has powerful innovative motors that are strategically placed over the rear wheels to provide better stability and allow users to maneuver over tough obstacles. This mower would have no issue mowing a 3 foot drop with a gradual incline as electric motors have instant torque and have linear power. To learn more about our offerings, our mower's technology, and our accessories please contact 1-800-860-4050. Thanks, RYOBI Canada Team.

Does the overall width of a Ryobi riding mower include the discharge chute? If so, what is the overall width with the discharge chute removed or flipped up out of the way? Asking so I know if it will fit into the shed.

Asked by: Walter
Hi there. I just measured. So the chute adds about 10 inches to the mower width (38 inches + 10 ). It does flip up (although no easy hook) in the 'up' position it does add about 3 inches (38 + 3) to the width. The wheel base is 36 inches . I do not see an easy on/off removal mechanism for the chute. It does come with a mulch cover for the discharge hole in the mower deck which does not add anything to the width. You could likely remove the discharge shoot (I am thinking screwdriver) and just use the mulch cover. Hope that helps.

I read a review on Consumer Reports that said the batteries have a limited lifetime, even when kept plugged in. For regular use, how often would batteries need replacing, and at what cost? Are there other battery tenders that could help to maintain them?

Asked by: geeoteo
My understanding is that all batteries eventually lose capacity and get to a point where it might be better to replace them than to operate with the limited capacity. This is my second summer with the Ryobi tractor and so far the batteries are working just fine, with lots of endurance. I kept it plugged in all winter in my shed in Montreal, stored at outdoor winter temperatures and I've seen no change in the batteries since last summer when it was brand new. Overall I'm very satisfied and highly recommend this lawn tractor.

How long does it take to charge a battery from dead

Asked by: Paul62
It takes well over 6 hours, these are lead acid batteries and do not last well. After 3 years use I now only get about 30minutes of cut time, which means it takes 3 days to cut my lawn. I would not by the product until they switch to Lithium Batteries and make them easily removable, not an afternoon job.

My wife wants to know about its ability to mulch. Do the default blades mulch or is there a separate purchase "mulching kit"?

Asked by: JimBob
When I purchased the mower 3 years ago a mulch kit came with the mower. It’s quite simple- just unclip the discharge chute cover and install the mulch panel in its’ place. A 1 minute job.
