Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buyer Beware - Design Issues I purchased this blower and was so excited to having a reliable machine and no gas. My first machine had the start issues and was returned. The Home Depot staff bent over backwards and had my second machine delivered to me . It worked well ( had to repair a flat tire ) and has no issue delivering the power required. Just went to use it this morning for the second time and the batteries will not connect it just humms . If I drop coin and spend my time I want a machine that starts . The engineering does not seem to have thought out this machine ..Snowblowers get wet people. Save your self a lot of grief and do not buy this defective product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This thing can move snow Used for the first time with about 10 inches of relatively heavy snow. Pros, this blower moves snow as well as my old gas blower. Lights work well and the hand warmers get good and hot. Cons, reverse is practically useless, I opted to drag it backwards. the shoot really kinda sucks. should move further from side to side, 180 degrees is not quite enough and kinda flops around a bit when positioned. It works but it could certainly be a lot better. If not for the shoot and the reverse I would have given it a solid 5 stars. Batteries had about half charge left after doing my driveway, about 65' x 20, and side walks and paths to out buildings. Short comings aside I'm so far happy with my purchase

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Auger won't start I bought the 24-inch 2-stage blower in November 2021 and it worked great the first time but the next time the auger wouldn't start. It took 30 minutes for it to start and I have no idea why. I tried it again today and again the auger won't start. The manual says it may be due to damaged shear pins but they are all intact. I noticed some ice build up around the shaft but even after clearing the ice and confirming that the auger moves by hand it still won't start. Also, it does not move in snow over 20cm and the auger doesn't work when the drive is in reverse. I took a chance on this one because the blower I really wanted is impossible to find. Definitely not impressed with this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor engineering and quality Not happy about this purchase considering the high cost. The engineering is poor and many parts (nuts/bolts/washers) were missing from the package which made assembly difficult. The chute is only fixed to the body via a rather flimsy strut from above allowing snow to spill from the base of the chute. This needs to be fixed with some kind of fixed collar. The chute rotation is sloppy and doesn't stay in a fixed position for long. Far too much flimsy plastic for cold environments.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from wait a while for a redesign I ordered this blower in early December 2021 and it finally arrived mid February 2022. Once assembled several things became very obvious. 1) to engage forward is very jerky and not a safe activity when standing on icy surfaces; 2) to engage the auger is a two step process which is not convenient at the best of times; 3) the chute mechanism is poorly affixed to the body of the blower and the discharge of snow causes the chute to move around displacing snow all over the body of the blower; While I like the ideal of a battery operated blower, this design needs some tweaking. I returned the blower to HD two days after receiving it (after only using it for less than 5 minutes). It would be my humble opinion to not invest your money in this unit at this point in time. I would consider this unit in the future if the design issues are addressed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not good for Newfoundland I'm a big fan of Ryobi. I have several of their tools and even a 40V lawnmower. The mower can cut our entire 3000 sqft lawn and still have half a charge. The instructions are lacklustre to assemble, and it was missing 2 nuts, but overall it's still a simple setup. The chute just rests on the pivot... so snow escapes from under the chute a fair amount when in use. Not sure the size of the 31 cars, but I have a 5 car driveway, half-empty, and after 15 mins the batteries were at 50%. It can throw fresh snow decently, but when met with any compact snow it just stops and spins. It managed to chew through a 18" mound left from the plow but definitely took some effort. Lastly, there is no gear disengage. When there are no batteries in it and you want to move it, you have to fight the gears, which makes it very difficult to move. I think the electric snow blower technology is coming, but this just isn't it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Another Auger issue! I purchased this snowblower in late November. I've used it maybe 4 times. I was really impressed the first couple of times using it, as it plowed through some really heavy snow. The last time using it, I noticed it took a couple of tries to get the auger working. Once it started. It worked fine. We received a lot of snow over the weekend. When I went to go clear the snow, once again the auger didn't start. Only clicks...I tried many times to get it started but after two days I'm giving up. This was beyond disappointing, as this machine is priced high. I made a call directly to Ryobi to see if we could work something out. They seem to think it's a connection issue internally. They said I would have to return it to HD for replacement. Guess what...? There are no replacements...Anywhere...Ryobi, time to make this right. I don't really want to go back to gas-powered.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Flimsy Chute It has tons of power and is very convenient. My complaint is the flimsy chute. I thought mine may have been assembled wrong, however, I see several other complaints on here about the same issue. The chute wont stay pointed 90 degrees in either direction. It just sort of flops around. I have to reach and pull the chute back towards me to get it to blow the snow to the left or right of my direction of travel. I paid more than double the cost of a comparable gas powered snow blower, I would expect it to work flawlessly. I hope someone figures out a solution.

How many HP would this be sumular to a gas powered snow blower? 8HP?, 10HP?, 12HP?

Asked by: dave
Hi Dave, thanks for reaching out to us regarding the 40V HP 24" Brushless 2-Stage Snow Blower. We do not have a horsepower rating on this unit, but the power would be equivalent to a 250cc gas snow blower. For further information, please contact RYOBI Customer Support at 1-800-860-4050. Thanks, RYOBI Canada Team.

I have a 200 foot, 20⁰, gravel driveway. Will the snowblower be able to clear everything on one charge with the uphill incline factored in?

Asked by: Bassdad
Well I have a 75 foor driveway level, and with about 8" or more of snow including snow drifts I can clear a one car width before the batteries die out and that is with the auger set to halfway. If you do purchase this one either have spare 40 volt batteries or at lease keep your old gasoline snowblower as a backup wjile your 4 batteries are charging

Question for Ryobi team, why does this product hate moisture? Snow is solid water, it melts…i returned mine because of multiple problems, but no replacement available…gonna rethink my commitment to the 40 v line of products. Kinda disappointed ☹️

the self propelled function doesn’t always kick in right away we have to reverse then forward again to get it started is this normal

Asked by: mike6363
I think it’s been done for a safety reason. The worst thing is the batteries, they are not strong enough and last about 15 minutes and takes long time to charge them. You need to remove them from the unit which is a waste of time. Disappointed. Worst job Rayobi.
