[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This 40V Ryobi (tool only) Hedge Trimmer replaces our corded model. It has a similar cutting ability with only a slight decrease in overall power. Not that noticeable in general use. If you have very dense shrubbery to cut, you will need to go slowly. In the video below, it has no problem with our shrubs that suffered die-back in the 2021 Texas Ice Storm. It is very convenient that it uses the same battery as our Ryobi lawn mower. With the battery installed it is well balanced and not too heavy. We will be donating our corded trimmer as this will meet our our non-commercial needs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The only downside on this Ryobi 26inch 40Volt Lithium Cordless Hedge Trimmer is it does not come with the battery or the charger, my mistake I should have looked at the description closer. The good news is I do own Ryobi 40 volt powered products so I can use battery and charger from them. Ryobi in my experience has been that they make quality products I do have 40 volt Ryobi tools that I can use their battery to use this. This is 26 inches long on the blade which should save me time from having to get on both sides of the hedge when trimming.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this RYOBI 26 IN. 40-VOLT HP BRUSHLESS LITHIUM-ION CORDLESS HEDGE TRIMMER (TOOL ONLY) to keep up with my neighbor (kidding). I was trimming my hemlock hedgerow and my electric hedge trimmer stopped working. My neighbor loaned me this beauty and I knew immediately I needed one of these. No cord (hallelujah), long super sharp blades, lightweight (even with the battery on) and comes with a removable debrit pusher. It's just a great hedge trimmer, especially if you have a huge 50' hedgerow of hemlocks like I have.

Have never used gas powered so cannot compare but is quite light so is easy to handle for over 1 hour Have several other 40v Ryobi so battery life not an issue Just swap it out after 20-30 minutes depending on how continuous it is run The rotating handle is helpful for doing cutting along fence line. One does not have to hold hands in awkward positions Need both hands so not able to reach for that branch and need to get the ladder. ( probably should not be reaching anyway)

The Brushless motor in combination with the speed of the dual action steel blades offers significantly high efficiency and performance. I like the reach of the 26 in. bar, the rotating rear handle and the 1 in. cutting capacity. This Trimmer works great for maintaining my hedges. RYOBI supports this product with a 5-Year Tool Warranty and a 3-Year Battery Warranty.

The 26 in. blade provides maximum cutting capacity and added reach. The dual action steel blades offer an aggressive 1 in. cutting capacity, however I would limit my cutting to about ½ to 5/8 inch to prevent potential jamming. The trimmer has a rotating rear handle for precision cutting at any angle, along with a wrap-around front handle for ultimate control and safety. The innovative Hedge Sweep design enables this trimmer to clears debris and clippings while you trim. The trimmer is backed by a 5-year Ryobi warranty. The trimmer is compatible with the RYOBI 40-Volt battery. This unit is not supplied with a battery or charger. It can be purchased with the battery and charger is one does not already have the Ryobi 40 volt battery and charger. This is an excellent tool for the homeowner who needs a limited duty system and does not want to have a gas powered system. It is especially nice for those jobs where a gas or A/C powered tool cannot be used. This product is made in Vietnam.

The Dual-action blades seem to be quieter and cut easily through shrubs and branches. The rotating handle for setting different trimming angles makes it easier than trying to hold the trimmer sideways. The HEDGESWEEP debris remover is a really cool feature. It works with the RYOBI 40-Volt Lithium battery (Note: The Battery and Charger are NOT INCLUDED). This would be my only negative comment. It also ships with a blade safety cover/guard. It also has a safety switch in the front hand support so you have to keep both hands on the trimmer during operation.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ryobi Quality Control or HD Re-selling a Returned Item? Who Knows? New, right out of the box, it worked for about two minutes, and then came close to stalling out. I was cutting about 1" off of the boxwoods at the time. If if I just turned the trimmer on its side, it almost stalled. I tried customer service who found the situation unusual, and recommended I bring it to the nearest service for a replacement or repair. I'm in NJ and the nearest service was in Brooklyn (it would be easier to get to Chicago.) I returned it to HD, but they don't stock this model ... so I got a 24" with the battery and charger for the same price.
