Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great electric mower This mower does a great job. Comes with a cup holder which is nice. Very happy with the cruise control feature. Comfortable seat as well. If you have two acres or less of grass to cut it’ll handle it no problem on a single charge Some cons: louder than I thought it would be but not intrusive. Grass has to be really short before you can use the mulcher insert, otherwise it stalls. Arrived from the factory with a completely flat front tire that had a slow leak due to a manufacturing defect. Because there is no local Home Depot in my town I took the wheel to a local tire shop and they were able to properly seal it. All in all I would recommend this mower?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Batteries are horrible. Buy something else. After plenty of research, reviews, and deliberating I decided to go with this electric riding mower. I bought this late last summer and the batteries did not even last one year. Initially it worked well for a month, but now when I go to cut my 2 acre flat lawn, the cutting blades turn off after 10-15 minutes of use and I barely have enough power to drive back to my garage. It takes roughly 4-6 charges for me to finish my lawn. Save your money and buy a more reliable gas powered mower.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Was a great idea I was so happy with this machine the first summer, but by the fall it was losing power too soon. The charger was not working properly. It took 5 months to get a new charger. in the mean time I had to pull the batteries out and charge individually. (not an easy task if you have a bad back) The next summer an exact repeat but this time the charger came sooner but still a month of down time and by now significantly less cutting time. The 3rd and final summer and 3 chargers later, it won't run at all and the batteries are toast. I have decided not to invest another $1200 on new batteries only to have 3 more summers of frustration. My mower is still under warranty but it's useless without the batteries. $5000 wasted! The batteries should be covered for 3 years as well, the faulty chargers were replace under warranty and I'm left wondering if this was the cause of the battery failure. No service help from Home depot stores either, and service centre was 100 km away and they seemed to be on a learning curve with the machine. I do not recommend this machine until lithium batteries are available and Home Depot offers better service support.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ryobi Totally Battery Powered Riding Lawn Mower Scary to drive on a slight incline. Very bumpy ride. Stepping on accelerator pedal require deep push before you get any speed. On the other hand, quiet drive while driving without two motor blades running. No gas exhaust fumes, no oil change no belts to worry about. Possible snow plow use in winter or snow blower attachment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sticker shock gives way to overall good experience Overall very happy with the riding lawn mower after the first two months. Many people have likened it to a Mario Kart vehicle so you'll definitely gets looks using it. We have three acres and this model can cut it all on a single charge. I typically do it in two stages just because of the time involved but I've found hat I don't have to charge it in between if I don't want to. This model has the largest battery and cutting swath of the three Ryobi electric models but it is smaller than many gas mowers costing less. However, the savings on fuel and maintenance will hopefully add up over time. Charging is easy and relatively quick. Without the biades engaged it really scoots along quit quickly but the cutting speed may be slower than gas mowers in this price range. The blades can struggle in taller grass so you need to know its limits and make sure you keep to a schedule that keeps the grass below a height that can make it harder to cut. The only downsides so far (besides the sticker shock) are the harsh ride on the smaller tires and the number of squeaks and rattles it exhibits. On a gas mower you probably wouldn't hear the squeaks over the roar of the engine but I just hope it holds up over the years. The rough ride can be annoying on the back of our property where the grass is sparser and the ground hard and a bit bumpy. It's a pleasure on a nicely manicured lawn but a bit torturous if you have more of an unmanicured meadow or field. Noise levels are very low compared to my neighbour's gas-powered lawn tractors and there is no need for ear protection for me. It just sounds like a large drone when the blades are running and a small whine of the electric motors when the blades are off. The reverse cutting function and cruise control are both nice features I use frequently and are good to have. The cup holder is only good for beverages that are completely sealed or they will spill everywhere with the vibrations and shaking. For the same reason I have yet to use the phone holder or USB port. I bought a dump cart to hook up to the tractor and it accommodates that well also. The cart car carry up to 500 pounds but I don't know how well the tractor would tow that much. I'm just using it for brush cutting and garbage.

How hard is it to remove the battery. E.g., if I just want to store the battery inside at night, is that a big operation?

Asked by: Mikey
Definitely a big operation. It takes about 20-30 minutes, which is ok if you do it once a year, but wouldn't want to do it every day. Keep in mind as well, that four batteries are really heavy to move around daily.
