Needed a very specific size for a weekend project and nobody had the size I needed as a standalone bit so had to buy this set. All the bits are very slow cutting compared to higher end bits. That being said a decent bit is $40 for one, so getting this set at this price is fine so long as you realize this is very much a "hobby" set - if I had to cut 20 holes with any of these bits I'd probably get very frustrated very fast. They cut slow and tear out is awful which is what'd you expect from cheaper bits.

These get clogged up and burn so easily, and even when that are cutting, most of the shaving are basically dust. If you bought these and immediately sharpened them I'm sure it would help, since they come super dull. Or you could just buy something good to start.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value for a DIYer A regular brand name 3/4" single Forstner bit was around half price of the set value, I was a bit skeptical however after using the 3/4" to drill 7 holes in natural red oak, I was pleasantly surprised that the quality of the cuts. If you are just a DIYer, this is a fine workpiece otherwise YMMV.

Not sure about cutting hardwood but I can’t see that being an issue considering how sturdy the bits are. I’m definitely not a professional woodworker but it worked extremely well for what I needed it for.

Will this cut clean holes in red oak? I need to do seven (7) clean and I'd rather spend more money on one 3/4" bit if this can't.

Why do the measurements listed in "Details - Bit Diameters" not make any sense? Surely this doesn't include a 1/5" bit, as stated? And the 1-3/8" and 1 19/50" are the same thing.
