Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product I had been dealing with a water seepage problem in my basement foyer area, it is an addition to the house and provides access to a basement apartment. Water was coming in through the joints, where the wall and floor meet, as well as where the addition meets the house. This product worked fantastic! At times I had to change the consistency of product to water because I had so much water coming in that I directly added the product to the area and then added pressure to the area until it hardened. I must admit, I had my doubts that I could fix the water problem myself but I did at a low cost and with incredible results. I strongly recommend this product to anyone that has problem or something similar.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from False advertised product Bought a 5kg bin. Widened a bit 2 hairline cracks in the basement foundation. Applied this product strictly by the instructions of mixing it. 1st it's drying out too fast, a pain to use, constant mixing took longer 2 times than applying it. 2nd after it cured for 7 days you can see it getting completely wet after the rein! It does not stop water as promised!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but too quick I needed this cement to plug-in micro-cracks in the basement wall through which water was seeping and drying leaving behind the traces of calcium. The cement plugged the cracks when used along the surface and was paintable in 24 hours, no questions. One little inconvenience is that it dries really quick and needs to be used in small portions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fill cracks This cement is in powder form, just add water and patch to the cracks or holes. So far so good. It fills the crack nicely. I think it works great for all cracks including those without water leak.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product For active leaks this product works just great. Easy to mix it and to apply. Thumbs up!

Hi there...for residential basement wall, cement plugs are leaking. Once breached holes are drilled out from interior to exterior of wallwhich application method is recommended to fill these holes with your product to reach outside of wall from inside?

Asked by: Swervie
Thank you for your inquiry. One popular method is to not drill them out, but rather leave the existing material in there and inject with a polyurethane foam. For this I would recommend Sika Fix Kit. Drill one deep hole 4-6 inches into the middle of each tie rod hole. Attach one sika injection port over each hole and inject. This will fill all the holes in the existing cement plug and make its way to the outside of the home completely filling the hole for a permanent sealing solution. Plug tite May be used, but it can be very difficult to push the material into the depth of the hole and get it to consolidate and seal properly.

Concrete foundation has 'honeycombed' in area 3 1/2" d x 5" h x 7" w. All loose material has been chiseled away and hole is clean. What is maximum size of hole in concrete that can be repaired at one time? should I do it a couple of layers?

Asked by: johnnyg
Thank you for your inquiry. Based on the information supplied I will attempt to answer your inquiry. SAKRETE plug-tite is designed to: Stop active water leaks through breaks in all concrete and masonry surfaces, such as basement walls or floors, tunnels, storage tanks, pools, pits, cisterns, construction faults and holes. May also be used on inactive leaks.|||| Question #1 - What is maximum size of hole in concrete that can be repaired at one time? REPLY – hole measurements are provided so let’s assume the hole size(s) are similar to the TDS information: All surfaces to be in contact with SAKRETE plug-tite must be free from dust, oil, grease or any other foreign substances that may interfere with the bond of the material. Cracks should be saw-cut or chiseled out in the shape of a “U”, deeper than wider. For instance, 19 mm (3/4 inch) long x 12 mm (1/2 inch) wide. Dampen inactive leaks to be repaired with potable water, leaving the concrete saturated but free of standing water.|||| Question #2 - Should I do it a couple of layers? REPLY: apply one layer completely filling the hole. |||| The SAKRETE plug-tite TDS is available at the link: http://www.kpmindustries.com/KingHomeImprovementProducts/wp-content/uploads/sites/12/2014/02/SAKRETE-plug-tite-TDS-ENG-REV.0004.pdf. |||||

I am applying Plug-tite to exterior foundation wall that is leaking. To improve long term waterproofing, I will apply rubberized membrane over top of patch (Blueseal by Bakor). Is rubberized membrane classified as a paint and I have to wait 28 days?

Asked by: johnnyg
Thank you for your inquiry. Your question Is rubberized membrane classified as a paint and I have to wait 28 days?|||| REPLY- this question is best answered by the membrane supplier. |||| I can only suggest the working outdoors in a ventilated area and the repair holes are small than you should be ok to proceed. |||| The SAKRETE plug-tite TDS is available at the link: http://www.kpmindustries.com/KingHomeImprovementProducts/wp-content/uploads/sites/12/2014/02/SAKRETE-plug-tite-TDS-ENG-REV.0004.pdf. ||||| As for waterproofing bare concrete surfaces you may wan to research using KING Xypex high’n dry.|||| Product info is available at: http://www.kpmindustries.com/KingHomeImprovementProducts/product/king-xypex-highn-dry/. |||| KING Xypex high'n dry is a surface applied chemical treatment for concrete designed to prevent water seepage due to hydrostatic pressure. The application produces a non-soluble crystalline growth within the pores of the concrete. This crystalline formation penetrates deep into the damp concrete becoming a permanent part of the structure and effectively seals it against water seepage. FEATURES & BENEFITS • Permanent waterproofing • Interior or exterior application • Easy to apply USES Ideal for waterproofing bare concrete surfaces such as basement walls, floors, tunnels, storage tanks, cisterns, ponds and swimming pools. PROCEDURES Mix and substrate temperatures should be maintained between 5 ºC and 30 ºC (40 ºF and 86 ºF) for at least 24 hours prior to and 48 hours after. Surface Preparation: Surfaces to be coated must be structurally sound and clean. Remove all delaminated or unsound concrete by chipping with a hammer and chisel or using a stiff wire brush. Clean the surface of dirt, grime, mold or any other substance that would prevent the penetration of the crystalline growth. Remove all paint. Smooth concrete must be lightly roughened or etched. Repair all cracks and holes with SAKRETE plug-tite. Clean the area with potable water, leaving the concrete saturated but free of standing water. Some very porous concretes may require several applications of water to ensure complete saturation. Mixing: Mix 5 parts of KING Xypex high'n dry with 2 parts of clean water until a creamy consistency is obtained; avoid a “soupy” mix. Mix only as much as can be applied within 10 minutes. Use immediately after mixing. If mix starts to set, agitate briefly but do not add more water. Placing: After mixing, apply KING Xypex high'n dry to prepared surface with a semi-stiff, thick bristle brush. Always dip the brush to the bottom of the mixing pail, mixing as you obtain more material to ensure that the solids do not settle. If the mixture thickens, simply re-agitate, do not add more water. In cases of strong hydrostatic pressure it may be necessary to apply more than one coat. CURING The presence of moisture is most important to produce the crystalline growth within the concrete and proper hardening of the coating. Allow KING Xypex high'n dry to set until the surface is hard to the touch approximately 1-2 hours. The treatment must be kept damp for 48 hours following application. Under normal conditions, it is sufficient to fog spray the coating 3 times a day for a minimum of 2 days. This also prevents the chalking or dusting of the coating. NOTE: For concrete structures that hold water (ponds, swimming pools, etc.) keep damp for 3 days, then allow to set (air cure) for 12 days. Flush thoroughly before filling. In hot weather above 21 °C (70 °F) care must be taken to prevent the coating from drying too quickly. Dampen the coating more frequently during the curing process than would be required under normal conditions.

I've leaking rod holes in my unfinished basement. Can I use this paste to seal the rod holes in poured concrete foundation walls? If yes, please send me the instructions. If not, please suggest me an alternative product.

Asked by: Moy87
Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend removing any loose material from the hole with a jack hammer while at the same time roughing up any exposed surfaces in the hole. The next step is to rinse the hole, so it is free of dust and loose pieces. Next pack the opening with Sakrete Fast Patch until the void is filled. If the hole is actively leaking during the repair, we recommend using Sakrete Plug Tite. Once you have done this we recommend brushing on a coat of Xypex high 'n dry to provide further protection and deeper penetration of the repair.
