Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Control I purchased (2) of these shelving units. I was able to assemble one of them, but they did not send the correct parts for the other one. The shelves fit very loose-not supported on all sides. The way they are packaged, the straps damage the cheap shelves. EDSAL customer service was absolutely useless. Their resolution to my problem was to call Home Depot. The problem was with EDSAL, not Home Depot!!! Home Depot customer service was wonderful!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Low quality difficult to assemble shelving unit Very difficult to assemble, poor quality. Two sections must be fastened together to achieve total height. Very difficult & two of the corners would not stay together. Went back to the store to examine the display model, they could not assemble it either. Instructions are poorly written. Wasted 2 hours, ended up returning it. Do not purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great once assembled I have two issues with this otherwise nice system: 1 - the rivets fit extremely tightly - making it hard to seat them. A rubber mallet is not enough and you need a block of wood to not mar the metal when you inevitably resort to a steel hammer. 2 - The system comes in two sets of legs to reach the total height. You must use one rivet from 4 support bars for the top section and a second rivet on each of those same bars for the bottom section. Doing this is no small feat. Doing it alone is not possible without running the risk of loosing control and having legs tilt and kink from bending. I would find bolts to be a much more friendly way to join the two sections. Once you get it done though, it looks goods and is rock solid.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shelf Easy to put together except for adding top half to bottom half. Strong and solid unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great unit. This takes better advantage of 9+ foot ceilings. Once together, this is a very nice shelving unit that takes advantage of taller ceilings. At 6' 5", I'm always annoyed at 72" tall shelf units when I can reach much higher up and utilize the space closer to the ceiling. This self is narrower at 18" which I also appreciate because it doesn't stick out into the garage as much. There are very few shelf items that are deeper than 18" anyways so a 24" deep shelf is pointless. Attaching the top to the bottom of this unit was annoying. Once it's done the set up is solid, but until then I would recommend asking somebodies help in holding the pieces in place while you hammer the sides into the tapered slots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice storage unit The laminate shelves are the best feature of these shelves. Very easy to keep clean. Unit was easy to put together.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As represented on-line. As represented on-line. Care may need to be taken with loading shelves as the support beams can spread so that the shelf is not supported in the middle of the span - sags, potentially failing over time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great purchase! The shelving was a bit difficult for one person to assemble but after it was completed, the outcome is great.

Stable without a bottom shelf?

I'd like to be able to roll things under these shelves. Would they be stable if the first shelf is at 18 or 24" up?
Asked by: APL
You should be able to at a maximum start your shelf at 18" and be stable. Ideally you would use 1 beam along the back bottom for stability. I hope this helps.

Does Home Depot sell the Upright (add=on) to join two units?

I called Edsall customer service at 773 475 3000, and learned these are not available: "that's our policy." Rude customer service, I don't mind - but I'll go ahead and ask: was the person on the phone as inept as it would appear, or is there some way to go around the manufacturer to obtain this part?

Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. Unfortunately, we do not stock this item. For any other questions, please call us at HomeDepot.com Customer Service 800-430-3376. Thank you for shopping Home Depot.

Are the shelves steel as well or are they wood?

Asked by: sierrayb
By only looking at the shelf listing, it appears that the description doesn't go with the picture. The picture shows steel shelving but the listing talks about particle board shelving. Which is it? I don't know and the prior answers to this are unclear! I was hoping that by looking at these comments it would help me figure this question out but no luck on this :( Makes it hard to decide about purchasing when the description doesn't match the picture.

Is the shelf unit exactly 48 inches after it is put together? I am concerned the screws to attach the unit together might stick out to make it wider.

I have a space that is exactly 48 inches wide and I want to make sure it fits after it is assembled.
Asked by: DR
Thank you for your question. Yes the unit is 48" after assembly and the rivets are part of that Outside Dimension. It should fit your application. I hope this helps you with your purchasing decision.

I can't find this information in the specs.

Don't know the gauge, but Gorilla Rack is far superior both in gauge and structural rigidity when assembled.

Does this shelving unit also come in a 36" wide version?

I need both the 48" wide version but also a narrower version, something like 36 in W x 84 in. H x 18 in D.
Asked by: Lisa
I believe so, but you need to check both store and on-line.

How can i purchase just the 48" and 36" post?

Just want the post
Asked by: captain
You'll probably have to contact the manufacturer. I'm sure they can supply parts. If your item comes without a part contacting the manufacturer will typically get you the part you need so I'm sure they have spare parts. Try calling the phone number on the instruction sheet.
