Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not like Cold Weather Great lock functionality however it does not work well in cold weather. First day I installed it, -2*C came home 5 hours later and the light is blinking (low battery) and the clutch is not engaging properly to unlock the door. It did however work well at my other house that has a screen door. A solution I have read is to place some sort of gasket between the inside assembly and the door. So the battery and does not get so cold. My door is a wood core with a metal clad, so the inside part of the lock is cold to the touch. I will have to see if this repair works, because it will not help the clutch assembly that is outside. I believe Schlage should be including a foam/insulated gasket that is fitted for the lock.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Faulty Design. The lock worked great for about 2 years. Then it stated having intermittent problems with the knob not able to engage the bolt and not able to lock the door. It just keeps spinning. It’s now doing the spinning more regularly. Completely unreliable. In fact, this is the second unit of this model I’ve purchase as I had the replace the first one because it failed the same way as this one. I thought the first lock I purchased was a faulty unit. But it’s obvious it’s a faulty design. Fresh batteries didn’t have any impact on either device. This is a faulty design. Don’t buy it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Choice I purchased this lock a couple of days ago after having returned a Smart Scan lock that didn't live up to its promises. This lock is excellent! I have a fancier Schlage number pad one on my front door which has been great and now have this one on my side door. I never have to worry about carrying a key and if some one is dropping by before I get home I can give them a code to get into the house. It's great! Don't hesitate to install this lock, it does live up to its promises!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Two failed in 17 months Bought one at the end of 2017 and it worked for about 11 months, then it stopped engaging. It took 2-3 tries to lock/unlock it every time. I dealt with Schlage for couple months and bought another one meanwhile as I needed one. This one lasted about 4 months. Then when I finally get an answer, they want me to put the old back on the door a do resets (which didn't help) Poor quality. Sadly, it is the only deadbolt I found with manual know in bronz :(. BTW customer service wants you to send them video of the fault. Don't. It's not gonna go through. Upload it on Youtube and send them a link.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Schlage Camelot Keypad Deadbolt w/Turn-lock Featur Works great - really smooth operation. Very easy to install. No more fumbling for keys. Enjoy the lit numbers for when it's dark out. Worth the price that I was initially leary about paying out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality lock, easy to use, reliable This is good looking lock. The buttons are high quality, easy to use with proper feedback. This lock works by allowing the user to manually unlock it after entering the correct 4 digit code. (and lock it the same way with or without a code). This approach used less energy (longer battery life) and very reliable if there is friction with the deadbolt, which on my door there can be in cold weather. Using the key is takes a little fiddling to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from By far the best at this price point I have a few rental units and I was so tired of lost keys, rekeying Weiser locks and so forth. I have bought Weiser, Defiant and other powered locks. They are a nightmare for battery use. Now with the Schlage, I turn the lock and all the unit does is confirm I entered in the right code.... Battery life is in years! Lots of room for codes.... buying lots but the prices keeps going up!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Locked out of the house in -30 There is a flaw with these locked in the solenoid that engages the dead bolt, leaving you spinning the dead bolt endlessly while you freeze outside for 45 minutes. Inside there is a plastic "J" shaped piece that is pulled up via a small tab that sits between the coils of a spring. When the solenoid engages after pushing lock or entering the correct code, the spring is pulled up, and that in turn pulls the plastic "J" up, which in turn pushes another piece into a "+" shaped spline, which then engages into the dead bolt... when that little tab breaks, the spring stretches, the tab jumps position on the spring, or the "J" gets stuck/frozen in place and will not move. Either way, it completely defeats "keyless entry" and you too will be locked out. This is our second go around with this system and the end result is the same... swapping it out for another brand.

Given the issues with function in cold weather or battery failure, will the key still unlock the bolt if the keypad is not functional?

Asked by: BobC
I have not had that happen with this lock. Before buying this, I had a Weiser which was horrid on batteries. Reason being that Weiser unit drives the deadbolt back and forth whereas this unit the user provides the horsepower. The unit just locks up drive mechanism when you enter the code and then you have a few seconds to turn the deadbolt. We had a fair amount of -40 last winter and this unit did not fail.

I have this on the front door of my house which also has a storm door, and it works well. I am thinking of putting one on my unheated detached garage. It can get down to -30°C outside and -15° inside the garage. Will this unit work when that cold?

Asked by: keddo
Good question! I'm not sure how the "electronics" and battery will react to cold exposure. Maybe a question for the manufacturer.

I don’t know about water proof as i have it installed under a covered awning, but we’ve had -15c for extended days and I haven’t had any issues.

Hello, what model should I buy if the hole in my door is of the smaller standard? Because in the instructions it says that it is for both. But I don't believe the one purchased (this) 365D can go to the smaller hole.

Asked by: Grisha
The BE365 can only be installed on a cross-bore with a 2-1/8" diameter. For a deadbolt with a removable anti pick-shield (which allows for the installation on a cross-bore with a minimum of 1-1/2" diameter) please refer to the BE469, BE479, or BE489. In the case outside temperature below -25 degree C, does those AAA batteries ran out their power = we have to replace them often or they will work again whenever temperature going up above -25 degree C ?

Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your inquiry Anh. Our keypad locks are tested to work up until -25 degrees. This is the industry standard. For temperatures lower than this, please use the mechanical key for entry. For more information, please call 1800 900 4734.

Does this deadbolt have an 'autolock' feature? Where after a certain period (eg 30 seconds), it will automatically lock?

Asked by: Brent
No, the BE365 is not motorized and therefore the bolt will never move on its own. If you have any other questions or require any further assistance, please call us at 888-805-9837 or email consumerschlage@allegion.com.

Why does the American Home Depot website rate this an ANSI Grade 1, and the Canadian Grade 2???

Asked by: MikeUrban
The BE365 is ANSI Grade 2, even in the US. We apologize for the misinformation and will look into it. If you have any other questions or require any further assistance, please call us at 888-805-9837 or email consumerschlage@allegion.com.
