However, found out that the Apple Watch / iPhone tap feature is only available in the US and not in Canada which was disappointing. The video ad with the Apple Watch feature should be removed from Home Depot’s website as it’s misleading thus the 4 stars.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Short of expectations Purchased this lock for the primary purpose of using IPhone to engage and disengage locking mechanism by way of tap feature or remotely from phone. They tell you lock is compatible to pair with both Schlage app and Apple Home app. Downloaded both apps and experienced nothing but trouble trying to lock or unlock using IPhone. Called Tech support to find fix for this problem. Basically informed that pairing the two apps together would likely cause issues and best to use with only the Schlage app. This defeats the primary purpose for which the lock was purchased, namely, using Apple Home app to operate it. For what this lock was able to do, alternatives are available for half its price. I would not recommend this lock and returned it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Door Lock, But Iffy Instructions The Door Lock and all its features make it the best door lock compatible with Apple Homekit. However, the instructions are not the best. My main issue involves the hole adapter. Schlage locks (smart or not) come with this metal “hole adapter” that requires a 2” bore hole. A 2” hole is no good for me as I have a metal door that is difficult to resize. Having dealt with Schlage before i know this adapter can be removed to fit a typical size bore hole. Its just a little more tricky for this lock and scary for some as you must take a part the lock and expose all the computing components. Now the instructions make 1 reference to removing the adapter but tell you to go to a website for more information. Information I could not find. By googling you can find websites and videos on how to remove this adapter, just not for this exact model (I couldn’t at least). Anyways, I figured it out and the door lock works with my 1.5 inch bore hole.

Had zero issues. Tapped with both my wife’s iphone and my iphone and was able to unlock my lock. Integrated it with Alexa, Ring and Apple within minutes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great smart door lock that works great with Apple Installed two of these several months ago. Work great with Apple Home - so very good security. You can see the lock/unlock status from anywhere and remotely lock/unlock. Use your iPhone as a tap-key to open, ask Siri to unlock the door when you arrive home, assign unique number passwords to yourself and people you want to give access to, and many more capabilities we haven’t used yet. Hasn’t once disconnected from home Wi-Fi network or failed to work perfectly. Great peace of mind and no need to carry a physical key!

To set up this lock and pair with my iPhone, I used the Apple Home App (free). I don’t use the Schlage app as I haven’t needed to since the Home app does all I need. I did download the Schlage app though, just in case. I’m in Canada, and IPhone tap works perfect for me. I found I have to tap it using the “front” of my Iphone. I can’t tap using the “back”, like I do when making Interac purchases at retail stores etc. Maybe that’s where others are having troubles? I made sure I had the latest iOS update on my iPhone and the latest update of the home app, to ensure no issues. So far so good! Now I’m going to update my passage and privacy locks around the home to match this beautiful lockset!!!

To use your Apple Watch to open the lock do you need to have your iPhone close by or a data plan on your Apple Watch. What I am hoping is to leave phone and keys at home when out for a walk.

you can alway type your code in if you forget your devices. I have not used my watch, but I use apple home on Iphone and it works great.

With this being electronic is there a battery that needs charging im assuming? and how long does it last between charges? Also if someone is using a code to gain access and type in the wrong code by accident is there a reset somewhere on here?

Lock takes AA batteries. I am using Apple HomeKit and it’s been 5 months since I installed the lock and I am at 93% battery life left from the original batteries.

Does the Encode Plus geofencing work with Android phones or just Apple?

Do the control panels numbers light up clearly even in sunlight? The demo unit was dark until you touch the screen (guessing where the digit is), When lit it had only a single light source; digits in the centre were well lit but the outer area was dull.

Can i re-key this lock to match my existing doors? how?

What is the distance/measurement from the edge of the hole to the top, bottom and sides? I have a window frame on my door that is very close to the current bolt
