Rated 3 out of 5 by from okay I really like the Georgian doorknob style and finish coloring. My complaints are that the antique brass finish is too inconsistent. Sometimes the door knobs are darker than the back plate. Sometimes the doorknobs are darker than each other. I also don't like that the screws are placed at the top of the back plate instead of on the sides. I think it detracts from the backplate. I always see the darn screws instead of the pretty backplate. I find them to be very noticeable in that position. I wish they would make the screws hidden on both sides like my bathroom knob which was comparably priced. I think $20 is not cheap for a doorknob and would expect better quality control on the finish.

The more recent online purchase was two knobs for my double-louvered pantry doors. Although I am pleased with the more recent purchase, the two knobs that I just ordered are not exactly identical. I would not have noticed the difference had I not installed them side by side. Fortunately, the knob on my attic access door is identical to one of the two knobs, so I'm going to swap them. The Georgian Dummy Knob, with its antique brass finish is attractive and well-made, and I am pleased with these products.

I exchanged kwikset for Schlage because the Schlage knob part comes off to better access screws. They look beautiful and are easy to install, but on some of my doors the "bolt" thingy is shorter than others and will not latch. I plan to call company to seek a solution for this. Right now I have 3 doors that latch and 3 that don't. I would expect all specs to be standard on doors and door knobs. I've spent too much time and $$$ to go back, so I will finish the whole house, but am very disappointed that some don't latch.

I ordered this Dummy Door Knob because it is a Group 1 strength (the highest). If you have a heavy door that tends to sag, you probably want a something stronger than the standard Group 3 knobs. Group 2 strength might have worked for me, but this Group 3 knob did not cost much more. My only suggestion for Home Depot - It should be sold in a 2-Pack. The large majority of doors that require dummy door knobs need two. Of course, you could sell both a 1-box and a 2-box version.

There are guides in the mechanism for installing the bolts that hold the knob together, making it easy to find the spot to screw in the bolts. I replaced all of the door knobs in the house with this product. Very pleased.

We do not offer dummy hardware that only includes one mounting screw. The F170 uses two wood screws that install into the door itself. The FC172 is meant to be installed on a cross-bore, but is not available in bright brass.
