Rated 3 out of 5 by from Weird pricing - Good product. I'm putting tiles in my kitchen and this Ditra lets me keep the floor from getting too high (it's thin compared to Cement board), and it's easy to work with for someone new to laying tiles. The odd thing is that Home Depot Canada sells this for almost twice the price of what it costs at Homedepot USA. It's very convenient to use, but not really worth the premium. If I wasnt in a rush - I would drive across the border and pick some up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Always Schluter Easier than you think. Oldest job is 10 yrs old, no cracks, no issues’ Im a amateur, easy to install, sure it adds cost, but well worth it. I use regular tiling tools, i use grout float to bond to subfloor. You can do it!

is it possible to use it as a base for shower pan?

Asked by: joeD
We didn't use this under the base of our shower. The shower pan was set into a concrete/mortar bed set into a different Schluter product designed for flooring. The Ditra was used as a protective membrane on all of the walls of the shower. Adhesive used was thinset mortar.

Hello. Can I use the home depot flexbond thinset under ditra to bond with the plywood subfloor and also use the same flexbond thinset on top of ditra to bond with the tile?

Asked by: Eric
In short, yes. Schluter is pretty specific though when it comes to modified/unmodified thinsets. Be sure to check the specs if you're worried about warranty coverage.

My local store and online all say that the All-set is sold out. What is a good alternative for this product?

Asked by: kcar
Hi, you can always use an un-modified thinset for most Schluter installs with the exception of gluing down any of our Ditra membranes to a plywood/OSB (a Modified thinset would be needed in that case) As I don’t know what your project consists of exactly, please call our customer service should you have a doubt.

Hi Alkaderi Yes you can use the Ditra membrane directly on the builders floor use the Schluter All-Set 50 white or grey, Home Depot now carries the All-Set 50 white in all stores, Article # is 1001 529824, And yes you would need to use the Schluter Mortar to have warranty.

When using Ditra, how thick does the plywood underneath have to be? IE: 3/4 inch? or 11/4 inch? ?

Asked by: Anonymous
The thickness of the plywood is dependent on the spacing of the floor joists supporting the floor. For 16" on-center joist spacing, then a 5/8" plywood is needed; for 19.2" on-center you need 3/4". These requirements are standard to our building codes and there is a good probability that your floor will meet this. If this is not the case, then you will need to add another layer of plywood to meet the minimum requirement. We advise that you start with a 3/8" or thicker, but not anything thinner than 3/8".
