Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saves my furniture The new formula is safe to use. Years ago I had furniture’Scotch Garded’ and honestly spills cleaned up easily and no stains. Fabric stayed clean longer. So when I purchased a new sofa I protected my investment by doing it myself with this product. I have spilled coffee and cola on the chenille fabric, and chocolate crumbs. The liquids blotted up and with simply water, they were removed and no stains. Chocolate came up with a little soapy water and rinse. After cleaning resorts. Also my sofa is very light covered and has not soiled. I just clean with damp cloth. Highly recommend

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Spray Not much to say. Hard to tell effectiveness over the long haul. But application left a milk residue. Be careful to follow instructions as to not discolour other parts of furniture. Did clean up easily, however.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Doesn’t work on suede I used this on suede and black dust was noted on it but unfortunately I wasn’t able to remove it even after using the fabric guard.

What is the coverage for each can?

Asked by: Jump
Hi, thank you for your question. A can covers 1 large sofa or 2 chairs or 5 jackets.

Could this be used on Velvet chairs?

Asked by: MayEm
Thanks for your question. In general, Scotchgard™ Fabric Water Shield can be used on cotton, polyester, silk, wool, acrylic, nylon, and most other washable fabrics. Do not use on “X” coded fabric (fabric that cannot be cleaned with water or solvents). You can find this code on the tag sewn into your fabric item. It is always best to test on a small, out-of-the-way spot first to make sure your fabric will stay colourfast.

Would this waterproof a nylon rain jacket effectively?

Asked by: Nomad22
The product does not claim to "waterproof", only to provide "repellency to help protect against water". Also the list of items it is deal mentions a number of items that are what I would call absorbable fabrics; nylon is a synthetic and may be less absorbable, although the list does include "clothing" with no qualification about what type.
