Rated 5 out of 5 by from This stuff is awesome! Contrary to the previous reviewer, I have had great results using this to repair empty patches in my lawn. I used both the old-school Scotts Patchmaster product (the green shredded newspaper mulch) and this product in the 4.5 kg bag. Yes, it's double the price of the Patchmaster bag, but, it covers double the area, if not more. Even in this scorching weather the past 2 weeks (30C+), the grass has sprouted and is vigorously growing, whereas the Patchmaster spots have just a few sprouts after 2 weeks of watering twice daily. Watering twice a day is key. I just wish I could do my whole lawn over with this cost effectively! Highly recommended.

I have a small lawn with a huge shade tree covering it. Before actually using it, I read the reviews on here and so was a bit sceptical. I had 2 bottles and followed the instructions right to the letter. We had some rain and some sunny days. I watered it every day that it didn't rain. It's been 3 weeks now and I have grass!! It started sprouting after about 5 days and just kept growing. I've already cut it once and I have grass all around the tree and along my sidewalk where it would not grow before. I've already bought more so I can do the back around my cement patio where the grass has all died. I have bought seed in the past and it didn't take. I really like this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great for our lawn I'm puzzled by all the negative reviews. You can't just sprinkle this stuff on dead grass and hope that grass grows. You must rake away all the dead grass and get down to the soil. I also recommend buying a bag of soil for any areas that might need it. Once everything is prepared then sprinkled away on all the bare spots. Dogs destroyed a large amount of our grass and this stuff made our grass look new again. Be sure to water daily or better yet get everything ready before rain is in the forecast. Rain is much better than tap water.

However, the first application I put in, it didn't do anything, and I found out why.....the birds and squirrels had a very nice meal of it....ALL of it. so, if you have LOTS of critters in your area, make sure you put some kind of net down; otherwise, they will help themselves to a free meal. But overall, the seed did work. I was just told that I should use a starter fertilizer, and that would have helped, but mother nature did ok too (an my wallet stayed a little fuller).

I used this last year at the beginning of summer - i have to admit this works! i will admit i did not turn over the top soil as a friend recommended. and i did not water it regularily either, i just sprinkled over my small back yard area. one jug did the trick. it was patchy but only because i had two big dogs running across it on a regular basis but now i am heading out to buy more and do it right. i had grass in only two weeks and had to cut it after a month of growing!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible waste of money I purchased two jugs of this Ez seed. I thought since it comes with mulch it would hold water better, and be a good bet for a grass seed. I prepared the ground and removed all old grass. Applied nice new soil then applied the Ez seed/mulch. I watered twice a day. It's been 3 weeks and I see nothing!!!!! Not even one grass seedling growing. What a waste of $45. And although it says money back, you have to go through the manufacturer which turns out, is a big hassle. I should have listened to other reviews. Most were terrible ratings. Do NOT buy!!!!

It has worked 100% of the time on dead grass, burnt spots, dead spots due to dog markings and in areas where seed failed (along the fence, hot dry areas etc.)
