Of those five, two had very large (fist-sized) rocks in them, and all have had VERY large pieces of wood (20 cm long). The mulch is fine, but the extras not so great. Will be going back to Vigoro for the next batch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent colour and quality I really like the brown colour of this. I used it to cover ground in a front garden and in a naturalized backyard play area for my kid. It is great. I bought like 8 bags and all were excellent. I saw some other reviews saying their bags had massive pieces of wood or rocks in them but in my bags nothing like that and I had 8 bags. I will be buying more I think to do another garden.

The bags are a generous size and the mulch was the absolute best way to finish off our new flower beds and help keep the weeds down. Plus, does anything smell better than fresh mulch? Nope! We will be topping off our beds with some fresh bags of this every summer.

Unfortunately 3-4 bags of it were covered in white mold. and of the rest that was laid it promoted a surprising amount of fungus (mushrooms) growth after a few days. Not that impressed

Dyes, other additives?

Is this mulch safe to use in a vegetable garden? Is it dyed? What precautions are taken to make sure it does not leak into soil? Thanks.

This mulch can be used around fruit and vegetable plants. Our mulches contain by-products of the timber industry and do not use recycled or treated lumber. The mulch colorants we use are water based coatings made from non-toxic pigments.

Is this mulch wood chips(absorbs/retains water, no bark) or bark mulch/sawdust(sheds water)? Is this mulch kept free of weed seeds?

Nature Scapes Mulch are a shredded wood mulch. We do not sterilize any of our mulches, however, they are composted which kills most weed seeds. If you have any additional questions, please call 877-220-3089.
