Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely amazing results I used this product last year before applying sod in my back yard and also on my side and front yards while overseeing in late spring. My grass was looking so green and healthy that all my neighbours asked me which product I used. I reapplied in early fall when overseeing again before my late fall fertilizer . This spring, my grass looked healthy from the start, with very few weeds. Again, In Ate spring, I reapplied the starter fertilizer and overseeded my lawn. It’s absolutely beautiful and healthy. If you follow the directions, you cannot go wrong. I highly recommend all of Scott’s fertilizers, but especially this one if you are overseeing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from When you can find it in the store, it works. Too many lawn fertilizers have too much nitrogen which spurs leaf growth but doesn't help root development. With grass, survival depends on healthy root structure. Also high nitrogen fertilizers can easily burn the lawn and set its growth back if over applied. Turf Builder Starter 24-24-4 is lower in nitrogen and contains phosphate and potash, necessary for good root development. Regardless of Scotts instructions, use a lower rate of application and apply more frequently - that will yield better results than a one heavy application. Refrain from fertilizing in very hot weather. Always water-in after applying or do it just before a forecasted rainfall. Within two weeks you will yield good results.

I combined the Awesome and Tough Grass Seeds, applied on August 30, 2020 and along with a combination of the Scotts Starter fertilizer and Scott Turf Builder Root-Trients, fertilizing August 30, September 13 and September 27, 2020; using less than the recommended amount of fertilizer resulting in no burns; photo on the left August 30, 2020 and photo on the right October 12, 2020. The true test will be next year summer to see if this turf will hold up.

I dont know what this product did to my lawn exactly, but to my knowledge, it is now smelling very weird. this appeared only after I put the lawn food in my lawn. it smells herbal and woody, and it makes me feel weird. Is this product safe for children and pets?

Yes...it uses all natural ingredients that exist in the soil. It provides the plant with food it would be naturally looking for with breaking down organic matter. It doesn't affect human physiology whatsoever. You can apply it and kids and pets can go on it right away. This from a parent and someone who went to University to study this. Hope this helps. :)
