The 1/2 in. SharkBite Push-to-Connect Ball Valve is the easiest way to install a new or replacement shut-off ball valve. The single lever control allows for easy operation and the valve is perfect for potable water and hydronic applications where a shut-off is needed. SharkBite fittings are the easiest way to join pipe and do not require soldering, clamps, unions, glue or tools to complete the job. Just insert the pipe and the stainless steel teeth bite down and grip tight, while a specially formulated O-ring compresses to create a perfect seal. Disassembly is just as fast using the simple disconnect tool so fittings and valves can be easily changed and reused. They can even be rotated after assembly for easier installation in tight spaces. SharkBite Fittings are certified for potable water supply and hydronic heating applications. Get SharkBite and get a grip on your next plumbing project.

Will really save you some time. 3-4 times more expensive than sweating copper fittings, but a huge time saver. So if you have the time, and know how to sweat joints, go with copper fittings, but if your skills aren’t the best and your time is limited, you can’t beat shark bite.

It is very easy to install this without having to sweat the copper pipes. This fits tight, even got the tool to remove it, have to say still having a hard time removing it. Would get this again.

I used it with copper (old pipe) and SharkBite pipe. Connector pushes onto pipe about 1". If old copper, clean the cut edge make sure on rough edges. I used cloth pipe sandpaper. Used wire pipe cleaner the first time. I left is a little rough (like you do for soldering) and it leaked. Used the removal tool and pulled it off. Then sanded and pushed it back on. No leak.

Question to the manufacturer: website says these are lead free but label says it may expose you to lead, which is it?

Why does the label say it may expose you to lead but the website says otherwise. Interested in answers only from the manufacturer.
Asked by: LeadFreePLEASE
The exposure to lead is possible from the old solder joints from plumbing in older homes. If you’re installing new copper pipe, or PEX or PVC, you have no need to worry. There is no lead in these.

It depends on how you place the valve on the line. Once installed it will rotate on the line. Just make sure prior to installation that it rotates the correct way.
